So I turned on music on my mobile phone. I thought I could press play / pause to control the avatar. No. You need constant noise to make the avatar fly. Most songs have milliseconds of silence so that didn't worked. Then I grabbed a tin can and a spoon to make noise. That worked. But I didn't wanted to disturb my neighbors too much. So I checked the game editor. It's surprisingly complex and fun to create levels. The game seems to support steam workshop even tho that's not listed at the store page yet. I could upload my levels. "Screaming Noppy" is one of literally thousands of retro 2D platformers infesting Steam and lowering the average quality of all video games everywhere... and I'm not kidding. Searching for "platformers" on the Steam store page yields over 17,000 results! Is this one of the best of those? Absolutely not. This garbage joke game, just like it says on the box, requires you to scream at your microphone. This is a stupid idea, implemented badly, and published on Steam through Steam Direct as a joke, in the desperate hope it will "go viral" because it's so crap. It did not "go viral", it's just crap. Platforming is an old, mostly dead genre, and this lacklustre experience, while it doesn't have an upfront cost, isn't saving the genre... it's no surprise this failed to capture any attention from gamers in the era of immersive 3D gaming. This features really godawful pixelcrap "art" instead of real graphics. It's hard to say if this was because the developer didn't have the skill to do the job of creating 3D visuals, or couldn't afford to hire someone who does, but it also doesn't matter.
