About SE VR World Demo
This game is a playable technology showcase that introduces game mechanics, in this VR project. This game (technology showcase) will serve as the basis of the VR game system for separate new game.
Game will be adventure game with a story, only single player.
A lot of game stuff like models, textures, sounds are from original game Space Engineers.
Player will playing with 2 characters alternately, one as Engineer and second as Policeman on space station.
The Engineer will mainly manually repair various devices. The Policeman will assist the Engineer and have weapons available to protect them from infected Engineers.
This technology showcase is created on Unreal Engine 4.
Compatibility of VR head sets: I'm doing it on Oculus Rift but it's also compatible with Vive (teleport).
Movement: In technology showcase is teleport and free movement. Free movement is still WIP. On Vive can be problem with free movement.

It's an experience, if you don't play Space Engineers, probably not for you, but SE veterans should try if they have a VR, would not get a VR for it, but if you've got one then play it

Игра 'SE VR World Demo' - это отличная демонстрация возможностей VR, особенно для тех, кто только знакомится с технологией. Несмотря на то, что это всего лишь демо, мир SE выглядит впечатляюще, с детализированными моделями и приятной графикой. Передвижение реализовано достаточно удобно, хотя и не идеально, что вполне ожидаемо для VR-проекта. Что действительно впечатляет, так это возможность по-разному взаимодействовать с элементами окружения. Хоть это и ограничено заранее запрограммированными действиями, это дает хорошее представление о потенциале интерактивности в более полных VR-играх. В целом, 'SE VR World Demo' оставляет положительное впечатление. Это красивая и захватывающая, хоть и короткая, экскурсия в виртуальную реальность. Рекомендую попробовать всем, у кого есть доступ к VR-оборудованию. Это хороший способ понять, что ждет VR-гейминг в будущем.
never followed up with the full game...what happened?
Never felt that much motion sickness in 180 hrs in SteamVR. Rotating in teleport mode is really broken and in free move mode movement vector and rotation center depends on room center (Steam VR) and not your position. SE stuff is cool to see but some pointless mechanics that (mostly) have no relations to the original game just... why? Shotgun? I don't remember any mentions of shotguns in Space Engineers except mods of cource. What's the "touch" text on droids? Why there even are droids? I regret playing this as i didn't felt the "Space Engineers". Only thing i liked is to see some space engineers component items. And the moon from the window.
when i tried this back in the day it was so cool i would love if they do this for space engineers 2 i would love vr for that game
