About Search

Welcome Aboard, Ranger!

I'm sure you've heard that we've had a few... erm, missing persons reports in the area. It's nothing to panic over! Just folks coming into the park and getting lost, being underprepared to deal with the wilderness. I decided it was about time we addressed the issue, so we hired some more staff, like you, to keep an eye on things. Just get your to-do list finished every day, and respond if anyone pings the help phone.
Stay safe, Ranger.

In Search, you'll play as a park ranger, patrolling the map for those in need of help. Most of the time, you'll complete menial tasks like taking out the garbage, cleaning cabins, and making supply runs for underprepared guests. On occasion, you'll track down a lost guest somewhere in the park.

This game contains the following features:
  • Jump scares
  • Pixelated Blood
  • Low poly stylized graphics
  • First person camera and controls
  • Collectibles
  • Clearly laid out objectives
  • Very low intensity combat
  • Auto saves

A fun little game with a pretty unsettling atmosphere, good story, and a pretty large map. Outside of a few glitches and a bit of frustration with an enemy that continued to attack while I was talking to an NPC, can't really complain given its only $2 as well as the dev's first game on Steam.

Pros: -Very atmospheric, cool art style -A lot of effort obviously went into the map design -TONS of lore. An entire secondary plot just from collectables. -Very active developers that seem to fix bugs within hours of them being reported Cons -Fast travel is almost a necessity given how huge the map is -Combat mechanics could use a revamp, they're very inconsistent -Base plot lacks because you're expected to do a deep dive into the lore For the players: If you're a lore seeker, this game is for you. If you go out of your way to find all the lost tapes, talk to NPCs, and get hidden collectables, you're handsomely rewarded for your efforts with extra content. Those hidden tapes add so much context to what initially looks like just some random haunting. If you don't deep dive, some of the scares are unexpectedly unhinged (and if you do deep dive, they're still unhinged, but at least you expect it). For a first game, this is pretty impressive. I'm really looking forward to what the studio works on next if this was their start, as long as they plan on incorporating user feedback into their next title. For the dev team: make a smaller map next title, everyone's out here fast trave…

Barely playable. The draw distance is incredibly low - it's like 40 feet, which makes no sense seeing as I get 320 FPS on the game and there's no reason to have draw distance that's anywhere near where you can notice it. And there are zero graphics options, not even the option to change resolution or brightness. Doors are very clunky, especially the Lakeside Bathroom where you literally can't enter the bathroom from one side because the door swings in to block your way. Walking onto the platforms around the bathrooms, or up stairs in general, is also a crapshoot. The downstairs (basement-ish) section in the ranger cabin is worthless, as you can't go in it, you just kind of float above it so i don't get why it's there. On the second day, once you visit any area it tells you that someone is calling on the "help phone" but doesn't tell you where or how to use it. The two phone booths I went up to were nonfunctional. I'll probably go back and play more later, I just left it sitting on the title screen while I made dinner so my playtime isn't accurate, but right now this is worse than the free stuff on itch.io

Not a very interesting game imo. It's the story and the gameplay that kind of kill it for me, but it would've been so much worse without the teleport feature. Not a terrible start.

it's really tedious. also either I don't know where the devil's pit is, cause it's not the big pit with the bridge over it apparently, or the game is broken and you can't actually beat it. you'd think after close to 2 hours I'd know what it is, but I guess not. or the npc that needs to be there isn't, idk.

I've had the game for a couple years and I feel bad for not playing sooner...I legit forgot I had it. I was playing another game at the time I acquired it. It's a pretty good game. I did enjoy it, but I missed any part where it may have said Tab and E are how to do everything...It was a struggle at the start, but I figured it out...lol. The story was pretty good as well. I do recommend the game. It's not very long. I finished it in two hours and only missed one achievement because I kept forgetting to look for the journal entries...lol. Oh well...I will be playing again because I must have all the achievements! Anywho, give it a shot if you've not already!
