THE STORY
WARNING 18+: You were taken and separated from Norah and her three daughters to be trained as the successor to your father's lucrative business. After hearing Norah crying during one of your usual phone calls, you decide to find any way back to her and the other girls. That's when an idea pops into your head that just might make the reunion possible. But that same idea comes with its own set of problems and your secret summer visiting them may be harder than you anticipated.
Among them, there is the very serious 22-year-old sister Zoe who’s been aiming to be a top lawyer since she could talk – and argue. The complete opposite of her would be 23-year-old Leanne who is the definition of a free spirit, which Zoe abundantly disapproves of and makes clear any chance she gets. The youngest and last is 18-year-old Coral who loves video games, but has a very strong dislike for a very specific reason. And then there’s your father’s fiancé, 37-year-old high maintenance and bourgeois Irene that everyone tries to stay clear off, or you risk running her wrath. Lastly, there is 41-year-old Norah who wants to take care of everyone, even if that means neglecting herself.
THE GAME PLAY
In Secret Summer, you play as the main character and take control of all the decision-making, such as deciding to be stricter on a character or be more understanding. You have full control of how you play, and which characters you'll be spending time with. But be careful! Rejecting to spend time with a character or choosing the wrong choices may disable you from their route, and all future content with them because most choices have hidden points that you gain or lose!
***A free in-game walkthrough is also included for those who have trouble with selecting the correct choices, or for players who want to access every scene!***

Reviewing (mostly) every game (or DLC) in my library, part 489: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️☆☆☆ (7/10) [i]Secret Summer[/i] is unironically hilarious. It’s an adult visual novel—an AVN—which, as the name suggests, is a visual novel with explicit scenes. This is my first time reading one, and it's about what I expected tbh. It plays like a chaotic blend of melodrama, soap opera twists, and anime logic. Sometimes it’s ridiculous, sometimes it works, and sometimes it’s so bad it circles all the way back to enjoyable. I don't really have any hot takes; ya know what you're going to get. [b][h2]Pros:[/h2][/b] ✅ To my surprise, the relationship-building is actually solid. Each woman has her own plotline with real development, not just “here’s a girl, now romance her.” You'll have many scenes talking about your past, the future, your dreams, and I thought it was actually pretty sweet and realistic. The central hook is genuinely strong, too: your protagonist has a ~mysterious~ secret that pushed him away from the people he loves. ✅ Not sure if the writer intended this, but I laughed quite a few times. Standard lucky pervert story flow for these types of games. Art is pretty good but no animation. Writing is pretty meh, mostly because of how little thought is put into how relationships should progress into new dynamics. Instead of gradual changes, some of the characters have one conversation where their relationship suddenly advances really fast. The one person that everyone hates in the story magically just disappears after the MC yells at him once. Basically all of the story progression stops really early and with it goes any tension and lot of reason for playing. Also, there are a lot of sudden transitions, leaving you feeling like the scenes don't finish. Seems like the writer couldn't come up with a good way to complete them, or got bored.1 found this helpful
Still enjoyable
The story is so well written. There are a couple of places the grammar is a little off, but not many and not drastic so it doesn't take away from the story. The graphics are superb. Some of the best I've seen in the genre. My first run though took 19.6 hours broken up over four days. I've not started on my second run though but I do plan on starting that soon.
This is a really good written and well made VN. I can only recommend it.
I discovered AVNs during the lockdown and by now I have my favorites. This is one of those and this would be my third time playing it but for the first time on steam.
