Summer Scent

5 of 5 Stars - Summer Scent is up there with the greats when it comes to variety and depth of player choice-driven story line. There are over a dozen distinct paths, some of which cause greatly different outcomes in certain scenarios, and very different relationship dynamics. Watching the MC and his LI process new emotions and opportunities is touching. The writing is well-ranged, with serious, tense subjects getting the gravitas they deserve, and lighter moments feeling light and fun. The posing and facial expressions are very compelling as well. Cassie's smile especially can really brighten a room, and her exuberant leap into the MC's arms can be felt due to the realistic poses. At the time of review, The early access game has six days, with each distinct path being in various mostly comparable states of progress. Meaning, some paths may have more work done as their path gets built out, while the developer will update those paths left behind in future revisions. That said, even in this incomplete state, I am very much committed to playing this through to its (variable) end(s), and am really interested to see where the story leads. This one feels like a lot is left unfinished, so it almost feels unfair to review it yet. But they released it, so here goes. The art and animation are great. My only question is why the hell is Cassie so pale compared to everyone else? Also, some of the conversations about their bodies are a little strange, when the choices are super skinny chick number one and skinny chick number two. Storyline is a bit bland. There's not really a lot happening more than the characters figuring out how they feel about each other over the course of a week. (Which is really fast.) Some of the points accrued feel random, especially Cassie's "Dom" points. Writing is decent in some spots and poor in others. There's a huge amount of the MC sitting a room talking to himself about the same ♥♥♥♥ over and over again. Some of the choices you're given don't seem to fit the moment and the dialogue can be repetitive at times. (Like when the MC is trying to "Dom" Eve. His dialogue doesn't progress.) When the characters are trying to show how angry they are (MC or Cassie) the dialogue can be over the top to the point of being corny. Really enjoyable so far. I found the story to be for the most part quite compelling, there are some moments where the motivations of certain characters felt a little bit like "cartoonish" vilain stuff, but most of the time it felt fairly authentic. For me a mark of a good story is one that i still think about it after i'm done with it, and this game was able to achieve that. The writing is quite good as well, for the most part. I will say that the MC really starts in the wrong foot with me, i genuinely had that vibe of "i really wanna punch this guy" in the first 5 minutes of the game, but thankfully it is something that the game acknowledges later and allows the player to develop the MC into a more likeable personality, at least for me. I really liked the romance so far, the "family taboo" plot point in porn and erotic novels is a shameful kink of mine, and this game delivers that really well. The conflicted emotions, the feeling of "we are doing something so terrible, yet somehow feels so good" i think the developer has been able to nail that part of the romance and i'm all for it. 5 hours and not a single sex scene ? i didnt know the game was abotu scocial support come on you're missing out the point of this type of game im not asking for full porn but at least something that keeps you going and also , for the devs , if you're like being dominated , don't assume other like it , pfffff loss of money

From a distance view, the artistry seemed ok. But then they started doing close ups/ near shots. That's when it went wrong. Very bad looking claymation CGI crap. it was so horrible. The story itself was so boring too. Not even 5 min in and i was skipping unseen text, just to see what the intimate scenes would look like. And, of course, it was bad CGI crap there too. Like cheap claymation plastic sex dolls going at it. For being a 2025 AVN, this should look 5 times better than it does, at least. This belongs in the 'worst of '25' category. What also gets me is that it's in 'Early Access' still. It's 3/2026! This should be out of early access. But my guess is that the Dev abandoned this project, due to it being so horrible.
