About Shadow President

Shadow President is a strategy and political simulation game played from a global map interface. You review world events, make policy decisions, and allocate resources across multiple categories such as economy, defense, intelligence, and diplomacy. You will interact with foreign leaders, respond to international crises, and determine whether to use soft power or military force. It is June 1, 1990. The Berlin Wall is falling. The Middle East is about to explode. No one has heard of “Desert Storm.” And no one would believe a Soviet coup. Welcome to your first day on the job. Any world agenda will require time and the ability to stay in power to see it through. You must be reelected and be an effective leader with the capability to get things done. As President, your ambition and ethics are mirrored by the actions you take. The world is yours to play with, but it is a world where impeachment, assassination, and revenge are alive and well.Command the tools of global influence: manage budgets, direct foreign aid, engage in diplomacy, authorize covert operations, oversee military actions, and decide the fate of nuclear arsenals.Gameplay centers on analyzing intelligence briefings, selecting from multiple courses of action, and watching their impact. Sometimes success means subtle influence and compromise; other times it requires decisive shows of power. Ultimately, your challenge is to keep control of the Presidency long enough to shape the world according to your vision.

Well I can say it runs fine and works on Steam Deck, however the mouse sensitivity is insane. You use the trackpad as a mouse and it's really fast. That's a problem because the game doesn't take up the full screen. It's almost postage stamp size. Which also leads to difficulty reading all the text in game. And there is a lot of text and stuff you need to read. While it's playable on Deck I wouldn't advise it. However on the desktop at least for me this game runs perfectly. I've been waiting over 30 years for this to get re-released. A truly lost gem. I lost my floppies of it decades ago. I do have the sequel Cyberjudas but Shadow President is much better IMO. If you're into espionage and on a power trip and wish to run a country, I highly recommend this game to anyone who is into political sims.

Used to play this on DOSBOX before I knew what Paradox games were. Truly an oldhead game. Scratches that post cold war itch you can't get scratched anywhere else.
