About Shibainu - VR Katana Simulator

ShibaInu is a virtual reality (VR) Katana simulator. With enhanced physics and cutting mechanics you will be able to put your swordsman skills to the test with one of the most famous and deadliest weapons in history. This game mainly focuses on proper Katana handling, physics interactions and cutting mechanics, where speed, acceleration, rotation rate, weight, travel distance, and edge orientation are taken into account to achieve the most realistic experience.

You will be able to improve your skills in the Japanese art of Tameshigiri which was known as the practice for testing the quality of Japanese swords, but now as a martial art which tests the skill of the wielder. Precise and controlled cuts are performed on Tatamis (traditional Japanese floor mat) rolled into a cylindrical shape.

You will be able to play in 2 different game modes:
  • Zen mode: Mode for practice or just simply a relaxing and satisfying cutting session. (WIP)
  • Waves mode: A fixed number of tatamis and targets will spawn in waves, with different cut patterns. Hit the targets as fast as possible to earn points before you run out of time.

Features:
  • 10 different waves challenges for map.
  • Online local and global leaderboard.

Immersive challenging play the physics of cutting make it challenging and adds to the immersive realism. Its difficult to get orientated to the optimum cutting techniques as you move to different cut angles and going from the companion sword to the Katana. But its there I just have to dial it in and be able to repeat it reliably. It is a great basis for a variety of combat game play scenarios

physics are wonky, i go to hit something and it just sticks to the side of the bamboo and flails about. not worth the £10~

Great game, I recommend using a katana one handed because two handed doesn't register as much. but otherwise, it's a great game with a lot of potential

Surprisingly addictive. But hit detection glitches at high speeds and my sword passes through targets often enough to get annoying. I'm on quest 2 and this game would benefit from a native 90hz or 120hz version.

This review is based on V0.4.6 and was played on an Oculus Quest 2 at 120 Hertz on a PC with a 1660 and AMD Ryzen 5 Updated review Updated as of 23/10(October)/2024 I just want to say that this game has really lost it's touch The dev has not updated the game in nearly 2 years, the big promise of huge updates was therefore never delivered, and the game hasn't even been priced down or put on sale since This game is no longer worth it at all if you are looking for a cheaper VR Experience I would recommend SuperHotVR, VRChat(Which is even free), A Fisherman's Tale or Budget Cuts over this game for new VR Players. Both due to these games being far more new player friendly, both on Steam and on Oculus, as well as being actually polished and finished games(As far as VRChat can be finished of course) To add on to this, the dev has gone on Radio Silence with no warning or reason, leading me to believe this project was abandoned or something else. Therefore, unless you have the extra cash, and really REALLY REAAAALLY want a Tamashigiri(Tatami Matt Cutting) game, this is the only one you can get for VR, and even then I recommend not getting it. It's sad to say that a game that showed so…
