About IAIDO

Have you ever been fascinated by the Iaido slash in anime or games?

Have you struke an Iaido pose with a toy sword, an utility knife or even a pen, while the scene of enemies slashed apart flashes in your mind?

Then some cool words may came out of your mouth as well.

Have you ever been told that Iaido Slash is actually useless, yet it just can't ruin your fun?

True. I do.

So I designed this game.

VR should not only mean to be a simulator of the things we know because the real world sucks.
VR should be able to bring virtual concepts and imaginations closer to the reality.

Act like Himura Kenshin, Ukyo Tachibana, Agatsuma Zenitsu or Vergil here.

The katana in your hand is your only weapon in the game.

You need to read the attacks of various enemies and block them to build advantages.

Remember your attack is decisively powerful at the moment your katana leaves its holster. You can cut the enemy in half, or burst the time dilation and cut it into pieces, and of course, you can tear everything apart in the dedicatedly sheathing moment with bonuses from accuracy.

Dance with your enemies as they move, try to beat you up wielding numerous weapons. They will even try to knock you back or finish it with a levitation batter!
Experienced on the Meta Quest 2
You can view my initial impressions review & gameplay here: https://youtu.be/jcAZ_SVSZKE This is not a good game. There's a ton of melee combat games in VR. Most are better than this game. This game does have somewhat unique combat (not really though). You block with your sheath. Then you build up the meter to do different ability sword slashes to quickly kill your enemies. The problem is that it's stupid easy to block. Enemy attack animations are basic, ugly, & obvious. You can easily build up the special ability meter to then take down the enemies. You rinse and repeat over and over and over and over again. If you really love anime, iaido slashes, & repetition, then this may be the game for you. However, I did not enjoy playing this game. I think I may have finished the game too, in about 45 minutes. I say maybe because the game just ended and nothing happened. I'm still not sure but I did see the 3 maps the dev talks about so I assume it was over. Maybe it was just another bug. Yeah, this game had several bugs. One of the bugs was pretty cool, I got to have unlimited power. You do have full locomotion. It's weird locomotion that see…

Iaido is a paid VR sword fighting game dedicated to the Japanese martial art Iaido. It worked on my HTC Vive and Index system, looked ok, played ok, sounded ok. The gameplay boils down to blocking with your sheathe, building energy to unleash an ability and repeat. Only buy, if you are a big fan of Japanese martial art Iaido and anime that feature that. I got a free key for this from the Steam Curator program. ViVE VR curator group

Find other reviews on MY CURATOR PAGE Iaido is a VR sword fighting game dedicated to the Japanese martial art Iaido. The environments are nice and you can tell the dev is passionate and dedicated to bringing this art form to VR. Unfortunately that's where the positives really end. The gameplay is essentially blocking with your sheathe, building energy to launch an ability, and then doing it again. The enemies are janky, predictable and super easy to defeat. The sheathe has a massive collision box, you can block any attack with ease. The menu and UI are awful, the controls are listed behind you when you load in and are only for the Vive wands. The game hands don't line up with your hands. The game also gets choppy once action starts to build on screen, it made me sick. Iaido is attempting to bring something pretty unique to VR but it currently doesn't feel good, like at all. There are a TON of sword games in VR and it's difficult to stand out, especially with incredibly polished titles like Blade & Sorcery, Ironlights and GORN floating around. Iaido needs polish, a tutorial, a new main menu, better enemies, better/more intera…

This is not a very easy review to do because this one is very special. And also, this is not a "Yes, buy it" or "Rubbish, leave it alone" thing. 1. I like the system and is kind of attracted. It is fun. 2.It can still be further improved. A lot. In many ways. It would surely be much better if it has a full filled background with various chars to play.
