Ship of the line

I am really enjoying this game. I am still learning it and not sure I am ready for the larger battles yet. I very much like the fact that it includes lesser known battles (at least for some of us) such as the Korean naval battles of Admiral Yi (makes me want to watch the movies again), the Anglo-Dutch wars, and the battle of Navarino. The ships are subject to wind and tide, and the fog, friction, and chaos of war are in your face. It would be great to add a scenario editor. The Battles of Suffren vs Hughes off India would be great in this game (just the right size), and I would love to see the twilight of galley warfare from the Med with battles such as Lepanto and the maritime struggles between Venice and Genoa. This game has great potential and the price is very reasonable. Most importantly, it is great FUN!

If you fondly remember the old Avalon Hill board game "Wooden Ships and Iron Men" then this might be your kind of game. If you've sailed the literary seas with Hornblower, Aubrey or Bolitho, this might be your kind of game. The basics are all here: Solid, chain or round shot, full and battle sail, wind direction and speed, hull, sail and crew damage, boarding actions. The ships handle well, there's no stopping and turning on a dime. When you can pull off crossing the "T" and avoiding return fire by planning ahead, it feels more like a proper wargame than a clickfest. There are single ship vs ship engagements to Trafalgar sized fleet actions. Good variety of scenarios from all over the globe. It's got several warts befitting an Early Access game, but the one man band behind the game is responsive on the forums. Even in the early state it's in for the money it's well worth a buy for fans of the genre, and if it continues to improve and evolve Ship of the Line may become the choice of the naval wargamer who wants more tactics and less sea monsters and power ups when they clear for action.

Absolute garbage. I completed the tutorial and still didnt know how to move my ships or scroll across the map. The first scenario my ships started engaging enemy ships that were off the map and unable to be seen. I still dont know how to select multiple ships. Also fleets appear as single ships for some reason? Deeply disappointed in this fakeslop game.
