Silent Nights

A short horror game with an unexplained story and some genuinely creepy moments. The gameplay is good and keeps things interesting, but I felt the story lacked explanation. [spoiler]The game never really explains why the house is haunted or what caused the supernatural events. [/spoiler] However, the cursor and interactable/pickable objects need some improvement, as they can sometimes be difficult to identify or interact with. Overall, it’s a decent short horror experience. But I’d recommend buying it only on sale, especially given its short gameplay length.

I did like this horror but the reason for my negative review was the 2nd part. The first part with exploring the small house was pretty good and simple tasks like find the key to the house, look around the house, pickup notes etc, light the candles (not a task but did it for the lighting). The oppressive piano music was quite good. It was my favourite. The jump scares in the house were good for a first game some of them got me...LOL The 2nd part...frustrating. The FOREST. VERY SLOW MOVEMENT for a LARGE OPEN AREA that you can easily get lost in. I took my time for most of it except the forest hence it took me almost 1h 17 to finish the game rather than RUSH. The forest was a LARGE OPEN AREA with VERY SLOW PAINFUL WALK/RUN SPEED so to get to each place took forever and I started feeling frustrated and pissed off rather than enjoy. The 2nd part ruined my experience. The other problem was 0 guidance. At one point "IS THAT A DOG" I didn’t know if they meant sound wise or we saw a dog in the dark.... Even with the lighting the forest was dark and rainy and hard to see if going in the right direction based on The QUCK TIME EVENTS. I got a bit lost but luckily got back on track to finish…

At least this game had an ending, unlike The Cursed Videotape. Most of this game is just going back and forth inside of a house, with a decent plot, but really lame jumpscares. Had a decent ending. 5/10

I'm going to have to go back in for achievements, but this isn't really a great game. Predictable scares (after one really got me) and a plodding speed for walking/running make this more of a slog than a horror walking sim.

Recommend if you can find it on sale. It's NOT a Christmas Game, FYI. It had it's moments for a coupla jumspcares but other than that just another walkin in the dark sim. Gifting the totem was kinda borked, careful what you do with your apples.

Easy Achievements. It has it's creepy moments. I got it for under 2 bucks So it was reasonably priced and I did enjoy it. [spoiler] You can't really fail. It's a walking sim [/spoiler]
