Synopsis
The notorious Blackbird's kracked, I mean, cracked! He believes Slime-san stole his treasure and unleashed his giant Kraken upon him! Sound familiar? It is now up to Slime-san to escape the giant squid's jaws back out to freedom!

History
Slime-san is the fourth major game developed by Fabraz. The three previous titles being Planet Diver, Cannon Crasha and Wild Wild Pixel. Slime-san is a game that is fun down to its very core. A silly story, with an unlikely character and gameplay that is addictively fast. It features hours of single player content yet is tailored for speed runners as well. The very core mechanics and level design lend themselves to be played competitively online. It is a visually unique adventure using a carefully crafted, 5 color palette world that is filled with fun and goofy Japanese references. It also has a soundtrack that is worth the price alone, featuring some of the most popular chiptune composers in the world! Published by Headup Games.

Note: This review may look like it's been copy + pasted from my review for Slime-san: Sheeple's Sequel... that's because this entire game is copy + pasted from that one. It does no service to gamers when developers just copy + paste entire games to try get paid twice for what's basically the same game, same assets, same gameplay... ugh. Slime-san: Blackbirds Kraken is yet another of literally thousands of 2D retro platformers infesting Steam and lowering the average quality of all video games everywhere. This is in many ways a ripoff of Super Meat Boy, except your slime trail is green instead of red. Truly amazing innovation here... ugh. It's a "Frustration" platformer, made extra difficult on purpose, because retrying levels all the time means the developer didn't have to make a lot of levels, and that would involve hard work, so they didn't do it. Just like real graphics require hard work, so this has pixelcrap "art" instead. See the pattern here? From a technical perspective, the game doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard. A shameless and buggy Super Meat Boy knockoff that is inferior to the source material in every way. Graphically, this game is hardly a step up from those cheap precision platformers where every object is one giant pixel that are polluting Steam. It isn't even decent enough to change the appearance up with palette swaps. The control scheme is way too complex for a precision platformer, making you hold a button to phase through terrain, which also slows time, in addition to Celeste style controls of jumping, dashing, and climbing. Precision platformers should have simple control schemes because the minute to minute action should be tense enough to the point where it's hard just to keep up with a couple buttons and mechanics. The level design is boring, seemingly confining its size to a set amount of tiles by tiles, although I couldn't get far in this game due to it being so buggy that it crashes every few minutes. This is shovelware ripping off Super Meat Boy rather than an inspired take on Super Meat Boy's mechanics.
