About Sniper Elite 5

✦ AI summary

Line up the perfect shot across meticulously detailed WWII French maps, factoring in wind, gravity, and ballistics as you uncover a sinister Nazi plot solo or with a partner. Customize every weapon detail, slip through enemy lines with enhanced traversal, and experience the series' signature X-ray kill cam in visceral slow-motion detail.

The latest instalment in the award-winning series, Sniper Elite 5 offers unparalleled sniping, tactical third-person combat and an enhanced kill cam. Fight your way across the most immersive maps yet, with many real-world locations captured in stunning detail, and an improved traversal system that lets you explore more of them than ever before.

France, 1944 – As part of a covert US Rangers operation to weaken the Atlantikwall fortifications along the coast of Brittany, elite marksman Karl Fairburne makes contact with the French Resistance. Soon they uncover a secret Nazi project that threatens to end the war before the Allies can even invade Europe: Operation Kraken.

EXPANSIVE CAMPAIGN
Many real-world locations have been captured using photogrammetry to recreate a living, immersive environment, and multiple infiltration and extraction points and kill list targets provide a whole new perspective on each mission. Take on the Nazi plot solo or work with a partner, with improved co-op mechanics allowing you to share ammo and items, give orders and heal each other.

ADVANCED GUNPLAY PHYSICS AND TRAVERSAL
Use ziplines, slide down slopes and shimmy along ledges to reach the perfect vantage point, or to sneak past a sharp-eyed lookout. Factor in rifle stock and barrel options along with gravity, wind and heart rate while you line up your sights on the target.

HIGH CALIBRE CUSTOMISATION
Use workbenches to customise and upgrade virtually every aspect of your weapon – change scopes, stocks, barrels, magazines and more. Rifles, secondaries and pistols all have a huge variety of options. On top of that you can select the ammo to suit your target, from armour-piercing right down to non-lethal.

INVASION MODE – CAMPAIGN DROP IN PvP AND CO-OP
Invade another player’s Campaign as an Axis sniper and engage in a deadly game of cat and mouse, providing a new dimension to the challenge as you stalk your prey. Alternatively, as Karl you can call for assistance and have a second sniper drop in to help you out of a tricky situation.

TENSE ADVERSARIAL MULTIPLAYER
Customise your character and loadout and earn XP, medals and ribbons as you take on intensely competitive 16 player battles that will really test your sharpshooting skills. If co-op’s more your style, you can team up with up to 3 other players against waves of enemies in Survival mode.

ENHANCED KILL CAM
More realistic and grisly than ever, the trademark X-ray kill cam returns, showing you the true destructive power of each shot. Bones deflect bullets unpredictably, ripping a new path through enemy bodies. SMGs and pistols can also trigger kill cams, including multiple shots in dramatic slow motion.

I was under the impression Sniper Elite 5 was worse than 4, but I'm pleasantly surprised. Biggest complaint I have are the maps being way too strict on where you can go, sometimes it just isn't obvious until you're too close. Unlike SE4 there's also lots of places that you can climb that you might not expect. Controllable bullet cams are a great addition, the xray itself is more detailed too. Survival maps are far more interesting in SE5, my favorite being the city ruins map since there's so much to explore. Those maps are also a lot less restricted. The music is repetitive, though this is way bigger issue in Campaign, as it will constantly loop the same track (depending on player status) over and over with no breaks of silence in between. I believe it was also like this in SE4 but the music had little to no "key moments" in the tracks that your mind will catch onto so you never notice it looping. DLC's combined with base game is too expensive. Buy it on sale. But I'd say SE5 has so many improvements, depth and is a way smoother feeling game than SE4 that it's worth getting SE5 over it's predecessor.
🎮 Review Summary
Sniper Elite 5 has one thing going for it: the single-player campaign. If you enjoy stealth, sniping, and exploring large sandbox maps on your own, you'll probably have a decent time. Unfortunately, that's where most of the positives end. The story is incredibly forgettable and feels like nothing more than an excuse to move you from one mission to the next. Once you step outside the campaign, the experience falls apart. Co-op, Invasion Mode, and Multiplayer are flooded with toxic players and cheaters, making it nearly impossible to enjoy the game for long.

🧠 Gameplay & Mechanics
The core sniping mechanics are still excellent. Bullet physics, weapon customization, and the freedom to approach objectives in different ways are what keep the campaign entertaining. However, these strengths are overshadowed by the online experience. Invasion Mode had the potential to be one of the most unique features in the series, but it's ruined by players abusing exploits, cheating, or simply making the mode frustrating rather than fun. Multiplayer suffers from exactly the same issues.

📖 Story & Worldbuilding
The campaign's s…
