SongBird: FlingAThing

Short but very enjoyable game. I really liked the mechanics: simple, yet fun and engaging. However, I have a couple of small issues: The (ex)Manager achievement seems nearly impossible to obtain. It's unclear how to unlock the "BZZZT" and "The Stars Look Pretty Tonight" achievements.

SongBird: FlingAThing is a really fun precision platformer that I enjoyed mainly because of how unusual the movement feels. I play as Biboby, travelling through the backrooms of a convenience store while trying to repair a broken cash register. The story is completely ridiculous, but the movement system is what really kept me interested. The main mechanic is the Fling a Thing device, which lets me launch myself in different directions through the levels. Instead of relying on normal platforming movement, I have to think about momentum, angles and where I want to land. I liked how quickly this turns simple looking rooms into difficult little movement puzzles. Once I start getting the timing right, moving through a section can feel incredibly satisfying. The game also expects me to fail repeatedly. I will miss jumps, fling myself into hazards and have to try again, but the fast restart structure makes failure easy to accept. I enjoyed this because it encourages experimentation rather than making me afraid to take risks. I can keep trying different angles until I finally understand what the level wants me to do.
