Players praise this charming adventure game for its beautiful Studio Ghibli-inspired visuals, witty humor, colorful characters, and delightful whimsical atmosphere that feels genuinely made with care. Common complaints center on its brevity (3-4 hours for most players), wonky camera controls, lack of voice acting, occasional technical glitches, and some puzzle directions that could be clearer, though most agree these issues don't significantly detract from the experience.
What a gem! The game oozes all the love it was made with and it's funny as hell. The visuals are beautiful, the music is nice, and the animation is top notch. You follow Miho on a truly wild [strike]goose [/strike] potato chase and you meet so many colorful characters. OF COURSE all of them have just one really small favour to ask of you -- surely you can fit that into your leisurely time table, right? Right?! Anyhow, my only real issue is that I wish it was longer. Without going for 100% achievements, it took me about three hours to finish the story. On the subject of achievements, it would be nice if the game offered a chapter select after beating it, especially since some achievements are dexterity challenges that most people probably won't beat at first try. Overall though, I loved my time with SOPA. I hope we'll see much more from StudioBando in the future. <37 found this helpful
A cute Studio Ghibli style adventure game, where you are a young boy on a fantastic journey on the hunt for the potato stealing frog that stole your grandmothers potatoes, end escaped into a hidden portal in the pantry... It's a bit jank, especially the camera and there where some minor glitches, nothing game breaking, but noticable. It looks pretty good, with colorful cartoony graphics, but the voices are the typical gibberish sounds that where popular in N64 games, I get that it's for cost saving reasons, but i do feel a game that tries to be a cartoon would be better served with real voice action. The gameplay is mostly typical inventory puzzles and the story is funny in a silly wholesome way and does end with sequel bait. Hopefully this does well enough to make the sequel possible, because minor complaints aside, this was a fun game. My game time was however greatly inflated due to keeping the game on. It's more like 2 hours if you don't care about achievements and just want to play the game, I also left the game running for a while, The achievements however are surpringly tricky for what feels like a child friendly game. There are several missable dialogue ones taht you onl…4 found this helpful
Such CHARM!!! If you ♥♥♥♥ with Grim Fandango and Sam & Max, you'll dig on Sopa. So funny and clever, and such a sense of heart. I lol'ed so many times. Also kinda has that old school, Never Ending Story/Lion Witch & Wardrobe mystical vibe. Where things feel mythical and close to reality but also kinda off. I really enjoyed it.2 found this helpful
This game was a wonderful surprise. I live for indies and the puzzles and story wrapped up in this game are the perfect combo for a cozy night of gaming. I was able to complete it in 4 hours, missing only a few achievements. The art style and color scope will draw you in. My only gripe is some of the puzzles could use a litter clearer direction (but that could also just be a me problem). I recommend this game if you're a fan of cozy, indies, puzzles, or all 3. The conclusion pays off well2 found this helpful
This game was such a colorful delight. I loved the wacky little characters we met throughout and all the absurd situations we were put in. The music and soundscape were lovely. Everything feels whimsical and magical. The camera could be a little bit wonky from time to time but not in a way that was game breaking.1 found this helpful
Very pretty game with a fun and silly story. Never felt like I ever got stuck in a section and exploration is rewarding, never felt like a chore.1 found this helpful
