Space Killer

Four hours in, I have to sadly give this a negative review. As a fan of the "Survivors" genre I really wanted to like it, and I *did* enjoy the first 3.5 hours, but I'm finding it really hard to want to go back and play some more. The gameplay loop is stale and grindy. The progression is far too slow and the small increments you get upgrades in (at least in story mode) is agonizing. I had fun for the first 3 story worlds, and then realized the rest would just be more of the same. The mission "types" are laughably similar to each other, with very little variety, and the "core" gameplay of being vampire-survivors-esque never takes off in any of the levels because they are just far too short for you to become powerful enough to have fun. I have played one (1) attempt of the endless mode, and it was far better than story mode, but by that point I was already uninterested in the game and the experience was soured by disappointment. The weapons and passives seem to have no synergy whatsoever past "put more crap on your ship to do the shooty better" and its simultaneously too easy in the early stages and too difficult past midgame due to ranged enemy attacks that your slow ship cannot av…

Despite graphically looking like it could run on a Wonderswan, this game has the magical ability to have lagged out my 4060Ti and made me throw a run, I am legitimately impressed at this technical marvel!

PRETTY FUN

Yet another Magic Survival clone. But, unlike Vampire Survivors, this one doesn't have the decency to be at least half as fun as the game it's copying. Why should I pay for this when a literal mobile game is ten times more fun and entirely free of charge? Already submitted a refund request and am now off to sink another 2000 hours into MS.

Could've refunded; didn't because the game didn't *fail* to meet expectations. Gets repetitive *very* fast - even for a roguelike. And there's too much like...transitions screens and forced waiting. Most of the missions they have you doing SUCK (SOS, mining, convoy) and are just waiting around while your ship demolishes everything in site because they're way under-tuned.

4/10 entirely average survivors like with almost nothing to make it stand out from the crowd. With frustrating progression based upon the right mission types happening to spawn, to fill your quota before fighting the section boss. Along with painfully bad story & narration, that adds nothing to the game.
