About Spells and Fellas
Spells and Fellas is a fast-paced arena survival game. Fight against enemies alongside your allies and get new spells, equipment, and companions as loot. As the wave number increases, so do the number and size of enemies. How long can you survive?
You're a wizard who has the ability to cast different kinds of spells. Use damage spells to deal damage to approaching enemies and negatively affect their combat ability with sabotage spells. Heal yourself or your allies with healing spells, and boost your team's fighting ability with the help of boost spells. You can also conjure various shields to protect yourself from bloodthirsty enemies.

As you receive more powerful spells and equipment, your character's stats go up. This means your spells become more powerful and you can cast them more quickly. Some equipment increases your maximum health, while others increase your movement speed or the chance to strike a critical strike.

As the wave number increases, so do the number and size of enemies. While the arena fills up with enemies, free space becomes one of the most critical things in terms of survival. In difficult situations, it's good to resort to spells that can push enemies away. When the enemy wave starts to ease, it's beneficial to prepare for the next one, because it might bring one of the bosses along with it.

its simple but challenging. You have to fight enemies in a rather small arena, some enemies drop items so you can improve your character. Every 10 rounds you encounter a boss wave. The controls are also a bit weird. You have Items on 1-3, ctrl+1/2/3 and shift+1/2/3 Its just not comfortable to press fast while also trying to shoot and avoid enemies. You can't change them. My best has been Round 60 out 100 and I have no idea how one is supposed to beat any further waves as your damage is nothing, abilities you can pick up also won't provide any real help and one just gets flooded with enemies. At this point I will give up as it take ~60 minutes to get to that point again, so no saving or continue from your best/prior wave. If some QoL I think it could be way more engaging and manageable3 found this helpful
"Spells and Fellas" is a laughably bad amateur game from Finland... it's just a wave survival shooter where you kill a bunch of the exact same zombie using a variety of "spells" that you shoot at them. That's it. The most remarkable thing about this at all is that someone actually tried to charge real money for this garbage. At least it's not a loot box infested mobile app. The technical execution of this game is shallow and simplistic, just enough to tick the boxes required to get something (anything) published on Steam, rather than investing the huge amount of effort and budget needed to create a fully fledged, comprehensive, high quality product. This feels like a tech demo more than a full game. Visually, the game looks pretty bad (and decent visuals are a must, gaming is a visual medium), we can be sure this is not an asset flip. This is because the game assets look so bad, no self respecting asset creator would publish them. That's a fail. There's also the old adage that those who lack the budget and talent to make their own game assets of any level of quality usually lack the budget and talent to do the rest of the job of game development properly, too.
Not amazing.. One of the biggest problems is the insanely awkward control scheme that you can't rebind. Also UI for swapping spells and items is really tedious as well.. grid-based ui would be much better than a scrolling list. Companions being spells that you need to first remove a spell, cast it, then add a spell back into that slot is extremely clunky and worsens every other grievance with the UI. Sfx were kinda funny at first but it's just a bit unpleasant to hear for over half an hour. Even if all these awkwardness issues were addressed it's just a generic survivorlike. However the companion spells are kind of fun and it's cool that you can cast some targeted spells on any of your allied units. And it is free..
