Spider Fox is a charming and surprisingly well-designed casual platformer that defies its goofy premise by delivering genuine thought and care in its level design, movement mechanics, and exploration-focused gameplay. Players appreciate its relaxing collectathon style, creative creature designs, and lighthearted tone that doesn't take itself seriously while still offering mild challenge and optional harder content. The main complaints center on occasionally janky climbing mechanics, slow web movement that feels sluggish, and some technical performance issues like stuttering in certain areas.
So Spider Fox. I bought this just because it looked so goofy and it was on sale for two bucks. I was expecting something along the lines of intentionally terrible or just plain incompetent. Turns out I was completely wrong. It's actually a relaxing collectathon platformer that lets you just kinda go. It's not difficult but it doesn't completely lack challenge. It has completely open levels but it doesn't lack direction. There are alternative traversal options at your disposal if you want to use them. There is actual thought and planning going on in this goofy as hell game about a mad scientist combining animals together and the power of love being the only thing that can save the day. Every part of this shouldn't work but somehow it actually does. The fact that it actually comes across as earnest really ties it together. It's obvious how silly this is. It's the idea of a child who has played way too much of the ancient RTS Impossible Creatures. Grotesque animal combinations seems to really be a universal favorite of young kids but who can blame them? It's just an inherently fun thing. We know how Animal A works, so what happens when we force it with Animal B? Hell, …3 found this helpful
Spider Fox is a cheerful action-platformer that embraces creativity, exploration, and lighthearted adventure in a way that feels refreshingly sincere. Developed and published by Planet 47 Games, the title introduces players to one of the most unusual heroes in recent memory: a fox with spider-like abilities. Rather than treating this bizarre combination as a simple joke, the game builds an entire adventure around the concept, creating a colorful world filled with strange creatures, hidden secrets, and imaginative challenges. The result is a family-friendly platforming experience that focuses on discovery, movement, and fun rather than intense combat or complicated mechanics. The story centers on a world disrupted by the reckless experiments of a scientist whose creations have fused different animals together into strange hybrid forms. These creatures now roam the environment, creating unusual situations and problems throughout the land. Instead of presenting them as enemies that must simply be defeated, the game gives players the task of helping and rescuing these unfortunate creations. This approach immediately gives Spider Fox a more positive and compassionate tone than many pla…2 found this helpful
Spiderfox is a casual 3D action-adventure platformer where you play as a fox-spider hybrid created by a mad scientist. You swing, climb, and explore quirky environments while rescuing bizarre compound animals and upgrading your web and climbing skills. It’s a bizarre mash-up, downright charming in how off-the-wall it is. Pros ✔ You actually become a ladybug-esq bug—on purpose – If you’ve ever hated spiders, you can be a ladybug instead! ✔ Doesn’t take itself too seriously – There’s this wink-at-the-camera vibe throughout—like the game knows how weird and absurd it is, and owns it. ✔ Plays decent - For a game that looks pretty low budget it does handle pretty decently. Cons ❌ Web crawling moves like sludge – It’s so painfully slow that it feels almost like punishment. ❌ Human characters are... unsettling – Their design is oddly creepy and sticks with you for the wrong reasons. ❌ The concept stretches reality weirdly – Sometimes it feels like someone asked ChatGPT to spit out the wackiest game concept imaginable—and then actually made it into a game. Conclusion This game is straight-up nonsense—and yet, I can’t say I hated it. It’s just bizarre in the best possible way: weirdly c…2 found this helpful
Randomly browsing for cute little "in betweeen" games from my daily dose of Helldivers 2 and ATS and found this hidden fun game and before you know it, 100% achievements were on the horizon. Combat is tight with good aiming mechanism even on controllers, has good movement on foot but climbing could be better as it is currently too sensitive in certain spots on the climbable webs, leading to accidental falls. Spidey swing and sling can be jank but you don't need to do a lot of that within the story mode, only for the swing and sling mini-game (completely optional and unrelated to any achievements/100% completion). Graphics are nice (played on 2K max to epic on everything) but certain areas do suffer from area load-in micro-stutters (I suspect this game was made on UE based on the "epic" wording in the graphics settings). Overall, this wholesome game is perfect for kids and for people who want extra little achievees on their list!1 found this helpful
Was a really fun game, played it for my stream and my chat loved it! Very impressive, rlly fun and loved the story wish i could seduce the mad scientist tho frfr ending was strange where scientist asked to be our pet All in all, great game!!!
short and relaxing platformer only last two levels can be challenging, but at the end of the game you have more than enough ammo to beat it shoot your foxy webs on everyone's face to "save" them
