"Splash Carnival" is a student project from Sejong University in Korea and I think the students flunked the course. It's a very mediocre 2D retro top down twin stick shooter... yawn. I guess the first thing universities should teach game dev students is that 3D graphics became mainstream in the mid 1990s... there's no excuse for failing to understand what most gamers expect as standard. This is a completely boring top down shooter with no remarkable redeeming features at all. The game features really lacklustre 2D visuals (does the developer not know 3D graphics became mainstream in the mid-1990s?). Gamers don't spend thousands of dollars on gaming rigs to pretend they're mobile phones. The developer chose not to do the job of a real game developer and create meaningful bespoke levels, narrative based gameplay progression and so on. Instead, they decided that "Procgen IS content!" and lazily tried to use procgen algorithms to create infinite, samey, repetitive, soulless levels, because that's a lot less work.
