Splendor introduces a special game mode, called Challenges. Challenges are based on historical events and anecdotes of the 15th and 16th centuries, setting up a real scenario in various places across the world. They teach you advanced techniques and offer rules variants. They put the player in unique situations with a goal to reach. Either earn a certain number of points or pick up a special card combination, in a limited time or limited number of moves.
Become a game expert and achieve 48 challenges along the trading routes of the world (Madrid, St. Petersburg…), not to mention duels facing great historical figures such as Charles V or Marie Stuart.

Splendor is a fantastic board game, but this Steam version is plagued with technical problems including account creation issues, game-breaking bugs that allow illegal moves, poor UI design, and frequent disconnection errors that replace players with AIs. Players consistently recommend playing the physical board game or using BoardGameArena instead, as this digital adaptation is barely functional and not worth the investment.
great board game but this steam version is so buggy and looks/feels like ass. you cant create an account in the game for some reason as you get stuck in a loop, instead you need to visit their website directly and make an account there first before signing in in the game. took me a while to figure it out. also one time while playing with ai it let me buy a tier 3 card at round one for some reason even when i had no coins TT1 found this helpful
Don't bother buying. This is barely functional and, even when it does function, has pretty bad sound design and UI.
This game is broken. I would recommend people to just play on the boardgame website instead of this mess.
Logged on to play a private game. There was some setup issue, so we chose to not start playing until sorting it out. My game eventually quit, as did my partner's. We discovered AIs had replaced us and neither of us could rejoin. Quit the game. Removed from favourites. Uninstalled. Fortunately I got it from Humble in a bundle, but I see why they are giving this away in a bundle. Not very player friendly. Go sign up for BoardGameArena and play there. Easier to get into a game and lots of opponents available. All the expansions and Splendor Duel are also there.
fantastic game. love playing it on a cruise ship in pass and play mode.
