Staffer Case is a new sort of mystery game, asking players to find clues, arrange them into documents, and point out the contradictions between them to solve a series of murders. The game is set in a fictional version of London in the 1960s where 10% of all residents have some sort of supernatural ability. In this city, incidents involving staffers, the people who have these abilities, are constantly occurring.
Players take the role of the Mana Affairs Division's newest detective, Notrick, in order to make sense of these incidents. Since the tricks buried within these staffer cases, at their core, revolve around the supernatural abilities of these criminals, conventional investigative methods won't be enough to solve them. Instead, players will have to rely on the documents that explain what their suspects' abilities entail in order to make sense of everything.
Fortunately, it's not only the criminals who have these supernatural abilities.All of Notrick's fellow detectives at the Mana Affairs Division are also staffers (Excepting gumshoe Notrick himself, of course!). The senior detectives use their supernatural abilities to investigate the crime scenes and organize their findings into documents.
Testimonies that account for emotional distress, invisible trace that tells when evidence was left, even memories that remain in objects—find contradictions using the various clues at your disposal!

This was a very cool supernatural take on the Ace Attorney style of gameplay (well, *more* supernatural, I should say). In some ways, I actually enjoyed it more than the AA games thanks to its faster pace and more regular, evenly spread instances of deduction gameplay. The conclusion of the overarching story was also quite satisfying and just emotionally effective enough. (I'm very glad I discovered this dev studio and the Staffer universe thanks to Dice Eater being free a while ago!) 7/10
A really competent, exhilarating detective VN. Quality-wise - it's a little barebones. It's pretty obvious we're building off a standard VN engine, and it's go the funky font choices and generic menu cruft to prove it. The art sprites are mostly static, the music can get a little repetitive, and the backgrounds are occasionally kind of painful to look at. But the writing is genuinely compelling stuff. Once you get past the goofy names, the writers have done a great job furnishing each of the main cast with different relationships that feel real - I particularly liked Thena and Bryan's weird little shindig. Ace Attorney-type games can occasionally feel like the world only exists in two spots: when the murder happens, and when you walk into it, but you kind of feel. Not the case here. The array of magical crimes on display present a cool twist on the competently done standard evidence-contradiction-investigation game loop, and I like how the evidence mostly being condensed into highlightable parts makes the hinting system give away just enough info to stop you from getting stuck. 建議買下連同reborn的組合包，很划算。考慮買不買的朋友可以去玩demo。 劇情和玩法整體上沒有大毛病，美術表現很好，配樂也蠻棒的。就是大概因為繁中字幕出得有點晚，又是推理類型遊戲，所以圈子有點冷⋯⋯anyway，希望能有更多人體驗這個遊戲。 劇情建議每一個Case的真假結局都走一遍。個人覺得玩完一個case後供玩家回歸結局分支的按鈕是蠻讚的。雖然看到別人說希望沒有這個介面，因為沒走過假結局的人看Case 5時會感覺體驗不完整，於是建議讓玩家自己找方法走完全部結局，這樣才能解鎖Case 5的真結局。但是個人覺得遊玩途中不知道結局分支在哪裡就夠了，要是還要自己費心思去找分支點以及導向不同結局的線索的話，太耗費心力了。 [spoiler] 更何況Case 5開頭回顧前四個Case兇手是誰的環節，親測只要選錯任何一個，那就會導向bad end，只有選出全部真兇，才能進入真結局。所以這方便算是能篩查哪些玩家沒有完整體驗劇情，並提醒他們去檢驗誰才是真兇。[/spoiler] 下面是反映瑕疵的部分，但遊戲整體瑕不掩瑜，請還沒有玩過的朋友不要因此誤會遊戲的品質不佳。 字幕方面出包比較多，小部分地方的翻譯對不上語音，或者嵌字出了問題，譬如Case 3出現諾德在 [spoiler] 聯繫賣家後前往找賣家們的車上 [/spoiler] 的地方喊布萊恩好幾次「警探」而不是「布萊恩警探」的錯誤，side story2 結尾的課長有一段對話變成了簡體字。 在看線索的頁面裏，線索文件和一旁嫌疑人+死者資訊的字體都太小了。明明文件的空白地方蠻多的。與其弄一個需要長按的放大鏡功能，還不如乾脆把字體都放大吧。還有長按向左或右按鈕，從而滑動查看線索的功能，有時候按完以後就會出bug，整個滑動的部分都在詭異抽搐，確實有點難用了。乾脆變成1234頁的形式來呈現的話，不是更好嗎？而且能更好地記住線索的位置，不容易漏看在中間的線索。看最左最右兩頭的線索，要比看夾在中間的一大堆線索容易多了，按個按鈕就好，不用長～按然後等它滑過去。 [spoiler] 最後果然就是感情線的部分了。諾得在天台上的「我喜歡你，組長」很突兀，那一幕組長的CG畫風不一樣，導致她看起來完全不是一個模樣，很掃興，還有其他配角或多或少對二人關係的調侃有點煩。要是二人的關係維持在心照不宣的信賴程度，把定情的契機設定為「牽手」而沒有口頭上的確認關係的話，那就更好接受了 。那句「我喜歡你」把二人之間的信賴關係破壞掉了，變成了某種俗套的男女關係，而非真真實實的搭檔。如果沒有這句破白，大概後面組長的背叛會來得更震撼，以及讓side story 2諾德呈現的形象更完整。也就是諾德不是單純地出於像Case 3夫婦的喜歡/愛而選擇不立馬去見組長，去進一步看清她的真實一面，而是因為二人是同樣面對著被迷霧掩埋的…
