About Star Hunter DX
Star Hunter DX
~ Return of the Bullet Hell Bounty Hunter ~
The Story so Far
Betrayed by her cut-throat crew, Luna Starr - former Space Pirate captain turned Bounty Hunter - has a score to settle. As Luna, travel to 5 exotic planets to track down your mutinous mates, and face them in Bullet Hell dogfights to the death!
Stop! Bullet Time
Outnumbered and outgunned, it's a good thing Luna has an ace up her sleeve: a space fighter craft that can alter the flow of time itself! Power up the Bullet Time gauge by destroying enemies or catching their attacks in a bomb blast, then enter Bullet Time! Enemies and their projectiles will move in slow motion, while you can still fly and shoot at normal speed.
Galactic Gold Rush
Why eat lead when you could turn lead into gold? During Bullet Time, the bullets from any enemies you destroy will be converted into gold cubes to collect! Will you play it safe and quickly cash in bullets for survival, or take a risk and allow bad guys to flood the screen with fire for a massive score boost?
Eye of the Tiger
Star Hunter DX is old school hard, but wants you to succeed: the extensive practice mode will help beginners to survive, and allow pros to perfect their runs. Push it to the limit and rise to the top of the leaderboards!
Super Streaming
Why stop at the top of the leaderboards, when you could show off your skills (or practice runs) live? Star Hunter DX plays nicely with popular streaming software so that you can broadcast on your favourite site easily.

Unlike the other SHMUPs from this dev (the Space Moth ones), this one is horizontal and makes better use of the screen resolution, so it's pretty good. The visuals are nice in general, and there are also some cool cutscenes. In terms of gameplay, you have three characters with two types of shot: one concentrated and one wider. These vary the speed of movement when used, allowing you to dodge with precision. The big downside is that it can be a bit unfair at times. There are certain attack patterns where you need to use two other types of ability to survive: a bomb that destroys surrounding projectiles and a slow-motion ability that, when you destroy an enemy, also destroys their projectiles. Another downside is the lack of online leaderboards, that would have been a nice addition. Overall, it's a cool game with decent quality and quite accessible when on sale, plus there's a demo available. i have yet to find a spaceship shooter on par with Nebula Fighter 3D from 1997 its like megaman, meets bullet hell shoot em up 2.5/10 - ship move speed is so slow... - not much content here - i think this game only has five short levels.3 found this helpful
Liked it at first but this type of shmup is way too fast and chaotic for me. My ship moves kinda slow and everything else is blazing fast, tons of ships, bullets, etc (and I'm playing on easy difficulty). It's a constant chaos, while having to simultaneously focus on bullet time to slow it down and graze against bullets to earn bombs (yes, really) to even make a dent.3 found this helpful
Atari vibes. Terrible. Not for me.
Star Hunter DX, developed by 1CC Games and published by Chorus Worldwide Games, is a vibrant and tightly crafted shoot ’em up that blends the intensity of classic arcade bullet-hell titles with modern refinements that make its moment-to-moment action feel both nostalgic and revitalized. At its core, the game follows Luna Starr, a former space pirate captain who finds herself betrayed by her own crew. Fueled by revenge, she sets out on a cosmic pursuit through hostile regions filled with alien forces, renegade mercenaries, and relentless bullet patterns. The narrative is light and mostly delivered through stylish cutscenes and character portraits, but it provides just enough motivation to carry the player through its escalating challenges while maintaining a fun, pulpy sci-fi spirit. Mechanically, Star Hunter DX excels at balancing traditional shmup chaos with a clever twist: the Bullet Time system. As you destroy enemies and collect resources, you fill a gauge that lets you slow time and strategically manipulate the flow of combat. During Bullet Time, bullets travel at a crawl, allowing players to turn dangerous projectile clusters into gold cubes that contribute to the game’s sco…
Fun little game! At first, it seems kind of impossible, but once you get good at using the bullet time slowdown mechanic you can push a lot further. It’s plenty challenging and it can seem overwhelming with how large some of the bullet sprites are and with how many bullets there are, but I promise you that if you get good at the bullet time, slow down, mechanic game becomes so much more manageable. The bosses are nothing special, really, but yeah, nice soundtrack and fun vibe.
