Starlight: Eye of the Storm

Here is the official review since the demo. I have had more time in the demo than this version (1.05b), but it should hold up for now. I have been following the game for a couple years now and have a lot of faith in the progress having since tasted that tease of a demo. ---{ Graphics }--- Starting with graphics, they are a mix of 2D sprites and 3D renders. Don't be fooled by its simplicity. Once you get into the game, the graphics immerse you into a fever dream of Starfox, chrono trigger, and such other SNES and Genesis era game graphics whilst maintaining a pretty 3D background render. ☐ You forget what reality is ☐ Beautiful ☑ Good ☐ Decent ☐ Bad ☐ Don‘t look too long at it ☐ MS-DOS ---{ Gameplay }--- The features offered in this game go above and beyond what other schmups and bullet hell/r-type clones have to offer. The "drift" mode is awesome. Simply press a button to automatically aim 360 degrees toward the nearest enemy that may come across any direction on the screen. The ship customization and effects are just fun to keep experiencing. ☑ Very good ☐ Good ☐ It's just gameplay ☐ Mehh ☐ Watch paint dry instead ☐ Just don't ---{ Audio }--- I personally enjoyed the mission …

This is complete garbage. Not because it's a bad game. Fundamentally its extremely fun. Too bad it literally doesn't work. I try to use the keyboard, the controls that the screen indicates that you should use in the menu to select things don't work. The mouse pointer can be used, but not to click things. Then when I plug in my controller, it works for literally everything except the X button. The annoying thing is that the X button worked just fine in the Demo when I was using my controller. I truly can't believe that I couldn't even quit the game. I was trying to exit the game from the game menu, and that didn't work either. Just didn't do anything. I have a Razer Blackwidow Elite keyboard, and it works just fine with everything else. I went to the discussions only to discover the developers have indicated that xbox controllers don't work, but only with the X button. This is honestly so stupid. The fact that I cant even use the keyboard is absurd. Tried setting controls to how I want them, but since the keys don't work in the menu properly, that was just not happening. I loved the game for the whole 5 to 10 mintes I played it, but then you just get stuck on the tutorial in the beg…

I've have been looking for a classic bullet hell type of game for a long time now and have tired some that were out already on the market but they didn't scratch my itch. Then i came across starlight which thankfully did the job. While it doesn't have a story mode it makes up with beautiful artwork, challenging enemies, an interesting progression system, and a good soundtrack. The only thing that is missing from this game is in the endless mode. If you want a classic bullet hell shooter Starlight would be the game I would recommend

A modernized game from distant past. I could see this game in an arcade. Adding the 360* twist ability adds to the mindless gunship game genre. Easy to loose yourself in the mass bullet swarms!
