About Sunset 20 Drone Racer

Take control of your own racing drone and fly through a range of hand-crafted environments, each with enemies to race against and fire missiles at. An intuitive control scheme allows you to fly your drone surprisingly easily whether you use mouse and keyboard or controller, and the game's aesthetic but simple low poly style allows you to focus on going as fast as possible. You've raced on a track in 2 dimensions so many times already - are you ready to race in 3D?

This is a game that allows you to become really skilled in the flying mechanics. They take a while to pick up, but it's very rewarding when you master control of your drone and are able to fly almost impossible-looking lines easily. The game has full rebindable controls so you can control the game your way.

Sunset 20 Drone Racer is a 3D rendered low poly "Drone" piloting "simulator" where you pilot a simple consumer grade/hobby quadcopter from first or third person views. Gameplay is a discordant mess of wrestling with awful control handling, shooting low poly targets (so... not really a simulator, commercial quadcopters don't have missiles...) and just flailing about small obstacle courses without any reason to want to. Before we get into the technical nuts and bolts of the poor technical implementation that is plenty of reason for gamers to avoid this, let's go into one of the fundamentals of game design. Developers should ask a few simple questions before embarking on the sometimes noble endeavour of game development. Like... is it a good idea? Is the game going to be fun? Is the design goal clear? In the case of Sunset 20 Drone Racer, either these questions weren't asked, or the answers were ignored. From a technical perspective, the game doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard. The game features lazy low-polygon "retro" assets, making this look like a barely functional 3D game from the 1990s. It's unclear why the developers weren't…

"I feel like this game is a neat concept and it would be a good time with the right controls. You basically control a real drone with a couple of joysticks and a few buttons, so isn't this the perfect match for an xbox controller? Unfortunately the game is inexplicably mapped to a bunch of buttons on the xbox controller and neither of the sticks work. You're intended to use a mouse and keyboard which doesn't feel very good. From the junk bundle I acquired this in at 5 cents, this was one of the games I thought could be neat for the 5 minutes I usually give these games. But once again someone with a fair bit of technical knowledge and zero sense put way too much effort into something completely pointless."
