Super Dungeon Designer

Having played the competitors, being Super Dungeon Maker and Quest Master, I don't think the question we should be asking is 'is this better or worse?' It should be 'what does this bring to the table?' Super Dungeon Designer has many of the same elements as SDM and QM, but with some huge advantages. The biggest one is the superior enemy AI. Rather than wander aimlessly and shoot in random directions, they will actively chase and take aim at you when you're in range. You can mix and match themes, instead of settling for one theme per dungeon (SDM) or one per floor (QM). The music is awesome AND it's dynamic. More enemies means more intense music! Right now, there's only one floor to work with, but rather than placing doors adjacent to existing rooms, you can place doors and stairs wherever you want and link them to whichever room you wish. With stairs, you can create the illusion of depth, and with the doorway linking system, you can make some real brain blasters, where North goes South, East goes West, etc. Unlike Maker, Designer is still in development, and it's making some fine progress. Some nice stuff has been added since last year, and more is underway. 'nuff said

Very fun game with a lot to offer even in an Early Release. In a world where things are either hyper realistic or Atari 2600 blocks like Minecraft...this has smooth easy to make out 2.5D graphics and realistic sounds. It is very easy to pick up and learn in no time. You will be hooked and experimenting with all of the ways to trap and trick your victim...I mean player of your dungeons. The ability to offer 1-4 player capabilities in your dungeons is great for couch Co-Op with Family and Friends too, and something the others don't offer or don't do right.

My son discovered this game a year or two ago at PAX. He wanted to make top-down, Zelda-style dungeons but was looking for something with more customization options than the Switch remake of Link's Awakening. This was it! He loves making dungeons and playing other people's dungeons online.

It has been fun watching this game grow. Developers are very responsive in Discord and Live Streams. They even play user dungeons and have contests live, which has been really cool. I learn something new every stream they do. Well worth the price of admission and they are still adding more. I actually bought it twice to play with my kids. Can't wait for it to be on Switch too.

this game is incredible, exept its 14.99$ cost, but in all its worth it! dont think bad about cost, look at the demo and see the tutorials, then you will see the greatness of the full one

I enjoyed the game. It is a functional game, but it is obvious it is in a developmental phase. Still entertaining regardless. The main issue I had with it was the scrollbars. The scrollbars in the settings menu as well as the updates screen do not function. The scrollbars in the building part of the game function fine but you have to move the mouse the opposite direction to move them. As far as the stairs are concerned, you need to provide space around the back end of the down stairs otherwise it won't function. It would also be nice if the main character appearance could be edited. There are monsters, but no npc's. If npc's are developed eventually, giving them dialogue would give the game some story element to it so it doesn't just feel like a hack and slash game with an end portal. I actually like the retro feel of the game so fancy graphics are not a concern for me.
