Super Retro GP

[h1]I Regret Buying This[/h1] I picked this up last year as it looked great. There aren't too many indie arcade racing games that look this good, and it's obvious to anyone who's seen Virtua Racing what this solo developer is going for here. Unfortunately, it is a bit crap. As the late, great TotalBiscuit may have noted, Retro Arcade Racers are a desperation genre. There are so few options out there that people will praise any old slop, because the choice is between that or nothing. In brief the problems are… twitchy controls: not steering assistance/smoothing, oversensitive steering, and a poor suspension modelling that will see you skipping from bumps in the road and leaping into the air from collisions. The cars have a variety of stats that vary between models, rendering a lot of them inviable through lack of speed or acceleration, fragility or poor handling. Tracks: there are four, bolstered by reverse and mirrored configurations, so 16 total. Fun bug – when you reset your car on reverse tracks, you respawn facing the wrong way. Lastly, the camera is too low in bumper and cockpit views. The tracks are frequently undulating, and these low viewpoints mean you cannot see ahead.…

Hasn't been updated in a long time now with missing features never delivered. I think this game is dead, and it's not that great as it is. Just get Hotshot Racing instead.

The last update was exactly one year ago, and it still says early access. It’s a very promising game and for the first 40 minutes you will have the nicest Virtua Racing member berries. Then you start to see that the game is far from being finished. This could have become something great, but the game’s development looks very dead.

I drove tanks in the US Army back in the late 90's. When I was doing basic training at Fort Knox, every once in awhile, our drill sergeants would allow us to go to the PX and spend money for an hour or so. In a dark corner of the PX there were two games, Virtua On and Virtua Racing. Maaaan i spent so much money on pizza, coke, and video games. When i left knox i never played at again, until last weekend. and then i found this, and am happy because where i played it was 2 1/2 hours away at galloping ghost. anyway this game rocks and takes me back haaaard

Extremely obvious game inspired by Virtual Racing. If you just look at it, it nailed it. Once you play it however, it's a bit different. This game pulls absolutely no punches. I don't know if F1 is meant to be this challenging but there's no handholding, no easy-mode, and just absolutely no help to be had. If you don't utilize your brake you're not going to finish a lap. Arcade mode is anything but. Every mode is simulation. If you like that type of thing, this game is for you. If you don't, and want an arcade-y more type of racer, pass on this. I'm recommending because the developer shouldn't be punished for making the game they intended. It's about what they wanted as a game creator, not what I want as a customer. The game is not for me, but overall it's still a solid and well designed game. It's Virtual Racing + difficulty. If you're fine with that, hit the big ole green Add to Cart button.

Well the game does remind me of the Sega Virtua Racing. However it is not quite there in the game play. If you are going fast enough to pass the other cars and barley touch one of them or a wall you crash or get critical damage which I don't know what that means but I wish the lady would stop saying it. You can't turn at speed by doing a power slide and you have to slow way down to make a corner other cars pass like you they are on rails. The roads are to narrow in some spots. Rubbing needs to be introduced. If you rub a tire on a wall it will not cause you to crash in real life and shouldn't in this game either. I recommend it because I want it to get better and work should continue on this game. Art is great and controls other than what I mentioned are good.
