About System Override

System Override is a first-person, single player heist game where you play as a hacker clearing a route through a variety of traps that block the way of your non-playable companion on the field. It requires a mix of careful planning and quick thinking as you look through security cameras to disable hazards, like laser tripwires and robotics, that lay just ahead.

"System Override" is a rather unusual conceptual game... it's a heist game, but instead of being the stealthy puzzle solving thief, you're the guy in the chair hacking all the systems to let the thief go ahead and do their part. What do you do in the game? Gameplay consists of operating a bunch of switches and dials from your static console, to clear the path for your NPC buddy who will steal all the stuff. Unfortunately it gets very repetitive very fast... it's not really all that fun, despite being a rather novel idea. The game is also let down by a somewhat mediocre technical execution that feels a bit like it was intended for VR, but I guess the devs couldn't get that part working. The graphics in this game are passable, but could be better. And while it's vital for any game to have impressive visuals (gaming is a visual medium, after all), there's more to a game than just the graphics. To be worth a gamers time, the game must match top tier visuals with top tier gameplay, and that's not happening here. On the matter of pricing and value for gamers, most "free" games on Steam aren't really free. There's often nasty mobile app cash shops, or content locked behind DLC,…

Worked great on my Quest 2. Was fun for a bit but quickly gets repetitive and a bit stressful. Still a worth trying out especially in VR.
