Taina's Cursed Legacy

Lies. Don't make it a "free to play game" when it's really just a demo. I played for maybe 15 minutes before it says I have to pay to play more. I don't care how the game plays, that's some bs tactic there, and I won't be moving forward with this game or this developer.

It feels disingenuous to not label this as a demo or Chapter I, even if it's free. The positives: the art is nice, the translations are great, and I always appreciate a system that shows me the consequences of the choices. The negatives: Even for a chapter/demo, there isn't that much to it. Checked the dev page and the only other content is a Chapter II DLC. It's all build up at this point, and the end of this Chapter lacks an appropriate hook or cliffhanger that would intrigue enough to get you to check out what comes next.

Taina's Cursed Legacy is a game that I found interesting because it takes a very simple text based RPG format and uses it to build a dark fantasy story around my choices. I play as a young girl with fiery hair who is born in a black hut near a graveyard, and from there I am left to decide what kind of person she becomes. The Slavic folklore influence gives the whole thing a different atmosphere from the usual fantasy adventure, and I liked how quickly the story establishes that my decisions are going to matter. The biggest part of the game is obviously the choices. I am constantly deciding how Taina should behave, whether she should be kind, selfish, wild or somewhere in between. There is not really one obvious way that I am supposed to play her, which I enjoyed because I could make decisions based on the kind of character I wanted to create. Some choices also lead me towards different situations, relationships and outcomes, so it feels like I am actually shaping her life rather than just selecting dialogue to move the story forward. I also liked the nonlinear structure. The game gives me room to explore different possibilities instead of forcing everything into one fixed sequenc…

A very cool and entertaining game with a very interesting story. I can't get the second chapter, but I'm very eager to see what happens next😭😩
