Tango: The Adventure Game

Nice, relaxing, adventure. A little diamond with replay value.

As a professional musician and someone who has visited Buenos Aires, I thought this would be an enlightening experience. Sadly, the best part of the game is the animated title sequence cut/scene which plays after completing the prologue. Just should have made an animated feature instead. Some rather annoying timed mini-games, poker hands which make no sense, and overall clunky and confusing design. And then they have to throw in the meta point-and-click references, ugh... If I could rate neutral I would but this did not leave me with a satisfied feeling...

Short and easy, but very enjoyable adventure game. I'm writing this review hoping the game loses it's profile features limited tag.

Really fun and charming adventure about tango culture, somewhat based on the life of famous "tanguero" Carlos Gardel. It has lots of jokes, with that kind of ridicule and light-hearted humor from LucasArts adventures (it even breaks the 4th wall and has lots of little references and easter eggs to adventure gaming in general). The puzzles are really well designed, they are mostly inventory based with a bunch of smart mini-games thrown in there. You'll learn a lot about tango culture in general, specially from "lunfardo" the slang used by "tangueros" back in the time. Being an argentinian myself, it was a blast playing this game in Argentinian Spanish. Totally enjoyable!

Tango: The Adventure Game is a good point and click, adventure game, alright now what is the story. It's the early 20th century a man named Carlos has just escaped from prison, as him and his getaway driver are driving away he is asked about the legendary Tango lyrics and so Carlos explains his backstory about his gambling debts, his fiance leaving him and being no longer the number one in Tango, he talks about how he planned to change all that and it all started in the city of Buenos Aires. So what are the likes, the story is pretty good, I love the moody atmosphere and the themes of love, loss and regret, I also like the references to classic point and click games and if you play a lot of the classics you'll definitely recognize some of them. The gameplay is good, it’s your standard point and click game pick up items and combine some of them in order to solve puzzles and progress forward, nothing too complicated. I also like that in the game’s loading screen it teaches you about Tango and a few interesting facts. The puzzles were okay some of them were annoying like the genie puzzle and some just require a bit of trial and error and maybe a little brute force. The graphics are…

Short adventure game that's heavy on the story telling. I would've liked for it to go further into either adventure or storytelling, but it was in the shallow end of both camps. Was fun in the moment, but I don't go back to replay it.
