Tavern Talk Stories: Dreamwalker

I'd stumbled across the first Tavern Talk by pure happenstance and, man, did I fall in love. I replayed it for the different endings and could mix the drinks by heart. The character interactions were amazing and it felt like my choices to help the party members actually had an impact. Sadly, Tavern Talk 2: Dreamwalker feels like it lacks a lot of what made the first game great. -- 1.) The Characters Though some dialogue snippets made me chuckle, it felt like there was a lot less character building and that's not just because we have HALF the roster of the original game. They all felt very one-dimensional compared to the first game and not all characters really were explored on equal terms. I want to know a lot more about our kleptomaniac fae but the fae I genuinely could not stand received so much screentime. It just felt...off. 2.) The Tavernkeeper It felt as the player you could very much affect how the game skewed based on how you reacted to characters and how quests went. This all felt like you almost *couldn't* screw things up. Very much an illusion of choice. Yes, there are different endings but it felt harder to trip the Bad Ending than before. this game is a prequel to the first and I would recommend playing it before the first unless you want some characters deaths spoiled.

It's Tavern talk on an Island - different characters but still compelling stories and you can get easily attached to them. It's definitely worth getting if you like the previous games. It also should be said that the developers of games like these really need your support so that there can be more of them. If you have never played tavern talk but are familiar with Coffee Talk or Vallhala, then its similar but set in a modern fantasy setting with some decent world building behind it. Lots of mythical/fantasy characters. Some things I wish they could have done: more characters, the ones they already have I got really attached to - so I want to see more characters like that and hear their stories. Last longer: See aforementioned about having more characters. It seems like this one had less characters than the other games in the series - maybe it's just me. Either way, I hope they have DLCs, definitely several. Developers if you are reading this, I need my next Tavern Talk fix.

i loved the first game and i love this one. to see the stories of characters unfold, characters that start to feel like friends, then like family. i got the mixed ending i think, ill try again for the good one!

The new drink mixing system is frustrating to the point I dropped the game, despite coming right off Tavern Talk 1 and being excited for more. The hints don't tell you much more than a quick look at the dialogue history does. More management chaos than cozy. The ingredients are complicated and affect multiple 'stats'. You are told what stats makes a drink and can draw it on the board for easy reference, much like TT1, but shots now aren't 1:1 to stats so you have to fuddle with different combinations to get the exact drink specs (and there's no shot-by-shot recipe illustration within the journal, you'll just have to remember that or consult a guide). The game either obstructs or chastises you for serving anything less than a perfect drink. Dropped after the 'give me a drink with five shots' puzzle. A shame, because the art is nice.
