It doesn't work on the steam deck despite claims that it's "playable". The devs won't say outright that it's not compatible.2 found this helpful
I want to start this by saying I enjoyed 80% of the game, and I would recommend buying it when it’s on sale (as of now it’s on sale for $6). I put just about 20 hours in the game and up until hour 18, I was having a blast. This game does not hold your hand which is sometimes very frustrating when you have no idea what something is for or how something works, but it also makes it clear that you can play your way. For myself personally, that meant prioritizing the tavern and not dealing with the quests other than the first ones for each character/animal. I suck at combat and by the time I completed the first round of bears, wasps, and toads, my tavern was already in the high 30s, had almost every recipe unlocked, every room and decoration unlocked, and I was no longer getting rewards for new levels. I decided to explore and (spoiler alert) found another building that looked like an upgraded tavern, different layout, more rooms perhaps and got excited that eventually I’d be able to buy it and run a second tavern, maybe with a different menu. Nope. That’s apparently not part of the game. I thought maybe it’s coming, nope. It’s been almost 3 years since the games release and the on…
i played through this with my wife and we had a blast together. theres some funny pacing mid-way, you get loaded with new recipes but often times dont have the ingredients to actually make them but it could come down to our playstyle who knows. some really funny writing in the dialogue too, there was a few times we were giggling hearing from an NPC

It was very fun. Automation for productions/cleaning happened at the right time. Exploring the world was fun. Playing this with three friends, to have a full lobby makes also a good progress possible within the tavern and keep good track of a lot of customers. The world is a bit repetitive as it is an element of the game and for that a small world. And the tasks on the board also repeat themselves very often and don't have much varity. Also we would've loved the bucket to be a bit bigger. Because we were running for water a lot. A bit more automatisms/bigger machines for automatism would've been great. And the achievement hunting was in the end very tedious, especially with the hotel inn guests and the orc cages, which happened very rarely. Also I think there is a lot of potential on growing uncommon, rare, legendary crops with the right fertilizer. So generally there is a lot of potential for this game to become better. But for a couple of fun sessions this game is already very good. So I would recommend it :).
Good game to play with friends, but has some performance issues.
