Thalassa: Edge of the Abyss

The game had a fascinating story and cool way of having you solve mysteries to that went on in the ship. I like games like this one because of me wanting to piece together the pieces of the story and make sense as to what happened. The problems in this game were more to do with the lagging, unnecessary actions, and slow pace, along with other factors. 1: I had to constantly adjust my settings to make sure the game ran smoothly with my computer. Perhaps a higher quality computer would work better but I’m not sure. Even still I had to adjust it whenever a big cutscene had started or was done, mainly due to frame rate or quality issues. 2: Some parts in the game had you do unnecessary actions like opening drawers that you would think would reveal another clue to one of the mysteries of the ship, but don’t. I would open a drawer or something else and it wouldn’t add anything to the story, but felt like a waste of time. This also applies to exploring areas of the ship that are inaccessible but are required to see just to get an achievement. There’s more about it in the discussion forums. 3. I only give this a thumbs up for the writers of the story. The story is good, but the gameplay is truly horrible. Your movement is very slow, the item interactions are very slow. The layout and objectives are also confusing, shoutout GameSpew who got me through this nightmare of an experience. I will only recommend this game on a very big discount. This is too frustrating to recommend for the full price, and I only do it because of the story.

Well written story with good interpersonal relationships. Game is slowed down a bit unnecessarily by slow player movement and animations.

loved this game. Had a bit a small problem, but was able to find solution for it. I would highly recommend this game. Is everything an adventures person like myself loves and a bit of investigator too.

progression depends on obscure clue hunting with very little guidance it becomes frustrating instead of fun i was literally 10 minutes into the game i got so angry at this game my controler flew across the room

A neat mystery game that explores the topics of loss and grief. Not a horror game, but the isolation can still feel oppressive (in a thematic way that aids in the expression of the main themes of the story).
