Interesting idea, but poorly executed.
✒️Review
Mix of visual novel with turn-based combat rpg, which tells a generic story, that it's not worth reading without twists or anything unexpected. Just about the protagonist super powerful wizard waking up from his slumber and having to fight against hot enemies like soldiers, demons and the final boss, a sucubus/demon queen.
🎮 Gameplay
The gameplay is extremely tedious, boring and repetitive. It consists of turn-based combat with memory mini-games, where you have to guess the hiding place of green orbs are hidden, both to defend against enemy spells and to hit your offensive spells. The number of orbs varies depending on the complexity of the spell, but it is usually 3 to 5. This minigame wouldn't be bad if it wasn't for the fact that the orbs don't stop at any moment, an element that makes it very difficult to follow the movement of 5 orbs, added to the fact that sometimes these orbs overlap, giving the possibility that a bad click ruins everything, since you don't have the possibility of failure. Apart from that, where you can discuss if it is difficult or not, the battles as such are extremely repetitive, basi…17 found this helpful
This game is about as fun as watching the paint dry. Why do I have to play some turn based bs, I just want to goon bro, let me skip the levels.14 found this helpful
If the unskippable intro mimicking Star Wars isn't your first red flag, the rest of the game certainly will be. Spellcasting should be fun and intuitive... This ain't it. The game also has a serviceable plot with multiple endings that you get based on whether you choose to spare your opponent or rail them without giving a second thought. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3309857027 The game is also pretty sin…6 found this helpful
The Concentration of Lust, developed and published by Meepower, is a niche visual novel that attempts to blend adult-oriented storytelling with light turn-based gameplay. It presents itself as a hybrid experience, combining character-driven interactions with simple combat encounters, but the overall structure feels more like a collection of loosely connected ideas than a fully unified design. While the premise suggests a mix of narrative engagement and gameplay variety, the execution leans heavily toward surface-level systems that struggle to reinforce one another. The story follows a powerful mage living in isolation whose routine is disrupted by the arrival of various female characters, each bringing new scenarios and interactions into play. The narrative unfolds through dialogue sequences typical of the visual novel format, with a focus on character encounters rather than broader world-building. While the setup provides a foundation for episodic storytelling, the writing does little to expand beyond its initial premise. Characters are introduced and explored only briefly, and their development tends to be limited, making the overall narrative feel fragmented rather than cohesiv…1 found this helpful
+ Art and music are fine enough + Main game loop is a pretty good working memory/concentration workout - Not worth it for the H scenes, it's just a couple of still images - ONE CRUCIAL DETAIL about how the game works is not explained in all the tl;dr nonsense about abyss and whatnot of the tutorial, causing apparent endless frustration judging by the reviews - Orb movements and overlaps as well as the battle mechanics are such that you will have a BAD TIME unless you pick up on it, which at least I didn't until the 4th battle CRUCIAL DETAIL: Green orbs are always sorted to the bottom of the pile. There, that's it, that's the trick to this entire game. There's absolutely no way the devs weren't aware of this when playtesting and once you see it you can't unsee it. Not only does being aware of this make it possible at all to follow the correct orb after 3+ orb overlaps (which happen all the time), it gives a middle-of-stage Sonic level route equivalent way to salvage a missed round which otherwise gets more severely punished. Once you pick up on it it's not a very difficult game. I never played the pre-rebalanced version but it makes me wonder if just telling players abo…1 found this helpful
