A surprisingly fun game. I was super tired a couple days ago, so I didn't want to play anything too demanding that evening- however, I wanted to enjoy something "horror" themed, but I wasn't tired enough to sit and watch something. So I fired up 'The Descent'. Man, was I not disappointed. I enjoyed going around and reading the story, the atmosphere is good, and the whole experience was stimulating while also not being a chore. I didn't like having to wait for things to trigger or wander around until they occur, but honestly that did nothing to hurt the overall vibe. It helps too that I currently live in an area known for coal mining, so it gave me a special kind of spook. Speaking of spooks there was one or two
jump scares
that absolutely GOT ME. I played the first part of the game twice, and a certain event got me both times even though I knew it was coming lol I wouldn't say it's a masterpiece, but if you're in a certain mood like I was, this will almost definitely scratch a special kind of itch.5 found this helpful

I liked it, fun experience, great concept and story!
Game started off pretty good. I was fresh out of college and sent to do some journalism on this mine? and well that's as far as I got. Poor me, could not find the dang key to open the gate to walk across a bridge to get inside??? it is my bad. I'm not patient enough to play these games anymore.. but its a good game and interesting menu screen. (time to watch some YouTube vids of this though) It has my curiosity .. *(i should have played the demo first .. no brainer there). sigh .. live and learn.
The atmosphere felt promising and the game started off creepy, quickly just turned to frustrating with the walking speed and having to wait for triggers for doors to open.
Literally can't play the game. The only way to advance past the first five minutes is to climb a ladder. The same ladder that is literally in the ceiling with no way to access it. Due to annoyance I literally watched several walk throughs and yes. I read every note and did everything they did. But their ladders were already down and ready to climb. Waste of money.
