The First Settlement VR

Just hopped in and played for 30 minutes to test and seems to be everything as advertised so far. Performance is great with ultra settings on Quest 3, 12600K / 4070 Super, Virtual Desktop. Had about 25 buildings with several people walking around, no stutters at all and solid framerate. Some of the graphic setting such as footsteps didn't seem to be showing up but nothing game breaking so far. The graphics could use some tweaks as well, seems to be something "off" with them no matter low or ultra. Also only 1 save file right now, hopefully this can be increased. If you want a chill casual city builder in VR this is probably for you. Nothing fancy just a simple game.

I was looking forward for the release of the game. So I was really excited when I finally got the notification that it was out. And what can I say – the anticipation was absolutely justified. This is a game that, for a change, isn’t about fighting or conflict. Instead, it’s all about doing something good for your villagers. You're welcomed by a relaxing soundtrack and immediately get to take your first steps in this peaceful world – deciding where to place your buildings and in what order to expand. It’s really satisfying to watch your village grow and see the villagers going about their daily routines. It’s the perfect game to unwind with after work, letting you simply relax and stroll through the little world you've created. Of course, it’s still in alpha, so not everything is perfect yet – but with a look at the roadmap, many improvements are already in progress and will make the experience even more polished over time. Clear recommendation from me for anyone who enjoys city-building games and wants to take a break from everyday life with a few relaxing minutes of gameplay.

I lasted about seven minutes. Looks and feels like Baby's First VR Game. The tutorial doesn't actually teach you much and when I tried to interact with the first and only 'most important' building I accidentally deleted it. Couldn't figure out how to rebuild the damn thing. I had high hopes for this and it ended up being so disappointingly subpar I had to give up. It needs a LOT of work to even be palatable. I've played games on the original Atari that explained things better. If they can figure out what an interface is and how they're supposed to work, and get a tutorial that actually tutors players by giving details instead of just vaguely gesturing into the distance (seriously, "that building over there" on a text window that makes you face a different direction?), then maybe this could be a lot of fun. Not to mention movement speed was painfully slow. I'm old, crippled, and half blind and I can shuffle faster than movement in this game. Even your in-game perspective is wrong; either your face is practically hugging the dirt or you're ten feet tall. Pick a lane or pick a decent middle. I really hope it gets better someday.
