This game came across as a Point & Click Adventure mixed with Turn-Based RPG. As a fan of Sierra's classic Quest for Glory series, I was hoping this game would deliver a similar experience. This game feels almost like playing three distinct games... part Point & Click Adventure, part Turn-Based RPG, and part Visual Novel. Unfortunately, this game seems to mix the worst aspects of those genres. The Point & Click Adventure aspects revolve almost exclusively on fetch quests and inventory puzzles. There's nothing that's particularly difficult to figure out or challenging in the P&C aspects of the game it's just a matter of finding the object needed and bringing it to the person/place it needs to go. While it might not make for the most engaging and interesting P&C adventure, It would be passable if not for the issues with the other elements. Unlike games such as Quest for Glory, Quest for Infamy, or Heroine's Quest this game does not masterfully blend its RPG elements into the game. Skill building and leveling is generally a major component in RPGs yet, there's none in this game. You don't level up, you don't build skills, you don't really even have any stats. You have a heal…

Beautiful but stops making any sense after a while, and the obligatory minigames are a pain.

Thats a hard pass. The first chapter was promising as it reminded me of old quest games with mixing point and click adventure and actual combat (turn based) but further it goes it starts to break down into confused mess of dialogues, absurdist events and tedious, quite RNG heavy combat. Also should note that it feels like story was written by a teen who just discovered psychology books and decided to mesh all its points into one eclectic maieutics.

This was a perfect game for me, I really enjoyed the mix of point-and-click, visual novel, and turn-based combat. That last one was a bit tough to figure out, but once you get started it's easy to pick up. This is a game with a lot of deep cuts and social commentary - it's a game that makes you think. All-in-all, I would recommend because I personally enjoyed this game, and I think there's something here for everyone to relate to.

The Girl of Glass: A Summer Bird's Tale is a one-of-a-kind game, for better and worse, but while it has its rough spots its various parts all add up into something special that I'm very glad I played, and that's stuck with me ever since I finished. It's a hybrid of point-and-click adventure and turn-based tactical battler, and while those two genres have rarely (if ever) mixed gracefully before now, the combination mostly works here. Kristal, the main character, is made of glass--in her daily life she is fragile, unable to defend herself and forced to use her wits to stay hidden from danger, though laying low is at odds with her outsize personality, passion for life, and strong sense of right and wrong. In her dreams she confronts threats as an avenging-angel figure in a vivid fantasy landscape, summoning imaginary companions to help her face down the fears that plague her in the waking world. The two gameplay styles--light-hearted point-and-click puzzle solving and aggressive fantasy combat--don't always mesh perfectly, but for this story, at least, they make sense together. The combat is *hard*, and sometimes frustrating, but if you stick with it it's absolutely beatable; you ca…

The Girl of Glass is gorgeous. It has a beautiful story, likable characters whose fates are in your hands, and 3 different endings. I genuinely liked the visual novel part of the game. The narration was nice, and I liked how it unfolded. It was really fun to get to know the characters and get involved in their stories. The point-and-click puzzles were fun, too. At times, they were a bit too obvious, but it wasn’t a big deal. I liked the way the puzzles were integrated into the story. The turn-based RPG part of the game, well, was tedious and a pain. I eventually got the hang of it and I’m planning to go for the “hard mode” for my second playthrough (for the sake of the achievement mostly), but it was such a pain that I almost gave up on the game millions of times. I liked the dream world where the combats took place and the alternative looks of the characters, but that’s it. I simply hated the rest. I really can’t recommend the game, but I can’t pick the “not recommended” button either. Go for it only if you like a mixture of visual novels with a bit of dark and political twist, point-and-click puzzles, and a truly challenging turn-based RPG. And note that the game does not support…
