The Last Oath is a really quiet little adventure, and I liked how different it feels from most fantasy games. I play as a knight who has already lost everything in battle but still has one final task to complete for the king. The idea is simple, but there is something surprisingly emotional about walking through the remains of a fallen kingdom while knowing that this may be the last thing my character ever does. The gameplay is deliberately simple. I mostly walk through the world while carrying a heavy sword and interact with objects and parts of the environment through text based dialogue. I enjoyed this because the game is not trying to turn the final journey into a huge combat adventure. The focus is on observation, atmosphere and gradually discovering what happened to the kingdom. I especially liked the way the environment tells the story. Instead of constantly giving me long explanations, the game lets me discover details through things I encounter along the way. That made the world feel more mysterious, and I found myself paying attention to the scenery because I wanted to understand what had happened before I arrived. Very short, Very sweet. Do not go into it expecting long gameplay and choices and all this other stuff. It is an interactive short story and it tells it beautifully. 100/10 stunning.
