The Protagonish

Even though you're forewarned the game is short I didn't expect it to be that short. One playthrough will require around 5 minutes, more or less. Of course, to try and see different things, you have to replay, but it took me 30 minutes to get all achievements. This is not a real point-and-click adventure. It's a barely animated visual novel with dialogue choices, only four scenes, no inventory and one ridiculously easy "puzzle". I did like the art style, the writing and the concept of trying to help or hinder the "protagonish" without controlling him directly. This should have been a demo for a much longer game.

Updated: Aug. 24, 2026 I wish there was a neutral option but regardless, I changed to recommended due to the price drop. 99 cents is basically free and I wish the developers much success on their upcoming full length game! --- Original Review --- Unfortunately, this is a super short tech demo and should be free. It is funny, unique, and has great voice acting, but it is a tech demo nonetheless. I hope the developers create a full game one of these days.

While the dialog is entertaining, I don't have patience to pick the wrong choices and start over. That is 'work' for me and not fun.

Looks great, sounds great, fun premise, short and sweet!

Very short, very simple but an entertaining tale of "heroism" from the NPC's perspective.
