A hidden gem of a game made by an indie developer. I was put off at first by the presentation of the game, but then the combat and the story (if you actually do read it) together with the art style will set you back at least 7 hours of your time keeping you entertained. For a free game, I could not ask for more, and I wonder why this is just a free release! You have to get past the difficult combat, and the game makes a lot of sense. If you do intend on playing, I would suggest giving the game at least a couple of hours before you are able to really figure it out. This is why I love indie developers. Good job on creating something amazing, brother.6 found this helpful
If you like cyberpunk you have to play, and even if you don't, I recommend this game. The story is so engaging and the art is incredible. It took a couple of hours for me to fully get a handle on all the elements of the game play, but as soon as I did it was very intuitive, and most importantly fun, especially the combats and interactive stories. The memory format of the game really helps flesh out the world and exposition. I found myself forgetting about the main story and trying to do as many side stories as possible, but as soon as I played another main quest I was impatient for the next one. This is a quick game that leaves you wanting more!5 found this helpful
"The Specter Chronicles: Episode 1 - The False Prophet" is not a game. It's an advertisement for a product called "The Specter Chronicles". The Specter Chronicles is a set of Choose Your Own Adventure/Fighting Fantasy ripoff e-books that never got made after the majority of gamers ignored this advert and the author discovered people don't actually like crappy fan-fictions, even if there's a lightweight bit of "RPG combat" in them. But this isn't completely relevant because this is not The Specter Chronicles, it's just an advertisment for it (even though it's a product that will never exist), so it's not correct to try to review that completely distinct product. We must instead review this for what it is... an advertisement. If you enjoy advertisements, you can consume them for free on the web or on Youtube without needing to add them to your game library, download them, and then launch the advertising. It's impossible in a general sense to recommend people should do that over playing real, full games on Steam, and that applies here with "The Specter Chronicles: Episode 1 - The False Prophet" too. This is only free in the same way that adverts on Youtube and banner ads in yo…1 found this helpful
