About They Not Fae!
A teen is tracking her cat inside an office building. Even though the place seems quiet and deserted, she soon realizes she’s playing hide-and-seek with dangerous creatures.
Genre and duration?
The game is an short horror experience, lasting between 30 to 60 minutes. I will try my best to scare you while you do your best to save an innocent cat. I poured all my love, and many of my fears to offer the scariest game I could make (so far), and I'm super proud of it.So have fun!Story and gameplay:
Maxine was walking his kitten when she suddenly ran away, leading her into an abandoned place. Pay attention to his meowing and pawprints to track him through the forest and inside the offices. Fortunately she can also use her smartphone too help her: you can scan your surroundings to detect the Pet tag of the cat, or use the camera to highlight his position. You will also receive tips from the virtual assistant to guide you.But beware, creatures are lurking around the place and will send you fake cues to distract you and stab Maxine in the back.Goal and lore:
Your objective? Find your cat and escape! You can take your time, you can run, you can ignore the cues or read and listen all the messages. Be careful though, the monsters will lie to you, they're very hungry after all. This place have been closed for a decade and Maxine is about to find out what happened. The game also contains in-game Achievements if you want to impress me and your friends. And there is plenty of lore for your to discover, if you prefer to take your time and if you want to explore the map. You can play without monsters or any kind of danger, apparently it was too stressful and scary for some of my testers. The monsters:
We don't know who they are and where they came from. They're shapeshifter, taking the appearances of the furnitures and objects around them to deceive you. They can whisper, they can crawl and they can even communicate, in their twisted ways. So if you hear footsteps behind you, open you camera and try to pay attention.Features:
- duration: 30/60 minutes
- large 3D level with 3 biomes to explore
- creepy monsters to kill you
- Multiple apps on your smartphone to help you
- audio ambiance crafted with care
- I'm proud of the art so let's say a cool art direction
- options to turn down the spookiness
- in-game achievements
- a human-made game made with love, just for you
Content warning:
The game contains dark environments, claustrophobia, loud noises and flashing lights, jumpscares, references to self-harm and suicide, a sphynx cat (the husband of my syster is absolutely terrified by mine and scream). What Steam players say

Story: Short, but well thought out. Sound design: Pleasant. Graphics: Simple (The phone camera is teeny bit too pixelated). Art style: Charming. Overall design: Satisfactory. Needed change: Just a way to look back at all the messages on the phone. Really good overall first go from a solo indie-dev. Could be fleshed out a bit more, but otherwise really good for what it is. Highly recommend if you want to play a well-made short horror game. Wouldn't count it as a walking simulator like it's tagged as. Keep at it, you've got talent.7 found this helpful
I will open this review quoting my favourite lines from the game's Steam page. "Features:
[...]
I'm proud of the art so let's say a cool art direction
a human-made game made with love, just for you"
"Content Warning; [...] a sphynx cat (the husband of my syster is absolutely terrified by mine and scream)." A delightful short horror experience that, given the fact it's the dev's first of the genre, has no business being this good. The inclusion of different mechanics inside your phone is clever and fun and I love the fact you are in this predicament to try and save your cat who is totally nonchalant about your struggles or the dangerous situation, as cats do. I really hope we see more horror titles form this guy in the future. A side game from a studio that makes several porn games that I enjoy so this was a veer into a direction I was not expecting, but I did like it so that's a win. Just an immediate heads up, you are gonna want some good headphones that have surround sound so you can hear directional audio easier. The game even tells you this but I went in with some $10 earbuds thinking I'd be fine and suffered. It is a game about chasing a cat through a building in an interesting hide and seek with creatures trying to kill you. They work off of Weeping Angels rules so don't turn your back on them for too long. Took me about 50 mins for my first run and I did 2 more trying to beat it in 10 mins for an in game achievement. I like these guys and it was interesting enough to recommend it at the full $5. Also plays just fine on the Steam Deck.1 found this helpful
This was a short indie horror about finding a cat and avoiding monsters. The monster balance is awful, but thankfully we can turn the monsters off. All and all this game is atmospheric with a great idea/design. With tweaks to the monster balancing and the signal receiving this could be a remarkable game. I still recommend it.
