About Title_Pending

Title_Pending is a story based exploration and adventure game. Become a playtester and explore the liminal spaces of a work in progress video game to unravel the mystery behind JMC Gaming Enterprises...

The following text is an excerpt from an email sent out by JMC Gaming Enterprises

NOTE FROM THE DEVELOPERS

Hi, my name is Matthew Stanton, and I'm the lead developer at JMC Gaming Enterprises!

You're here today to help us playtest our new game, {TITLE-HERE}. While you play, I'll be giving insightful developer commentary about how we created the game, and the challenges me and my team faced.

Now of course, this is a playtest, and there's a high chance there will be bugs and glitches (especially with the tech department saying they want to test some device during the playtest). But worry not! As a professional game developer, I'll be here to help you through any issues you may encounter.

Wait, this is weird, I'm getting some errors here… I wouldn't worry too much about it, RETCON is a flawless engine after all. I'm sure it's nothing serious.

GAMEPLAY

{TITLE-HERE} features a wide array of movement options. You can walk forwards, backwards, and strafe side to side; a new option available is the run button, allowing players to move faster than they would walking.

\

If the room you find yourself in is too dark, the flashlight will come in handy, lighting up what you can’t see.

\
\

The observant gamers will notice many buttons and switches, some even activate other moving parts in this ground-breaking gaming experience. Coupled with real funky beats found in radios throughout the levels, this will be a game to remember.

The game is unfortunately too scared of letting you miss anything, so instead it take options away from you to ensure you take the one intended path, which is unfortunately filled with bits which's whole thing is making you wait.

I love this game. I wish it'd gotten more traction. Sadly exploration of the many mysteries and branching paths often lead to dead ends instead of new clues, more story or resolutions. I'd wish for a more fleshed out version of this game. Maybe a sequel? Anyway! I still fully recommend this game! I had a lot of fun with it!

I'm surprised to see so much praise heaped upon this game. I wish that I liked it as much as everyone else, and I wish that I found it as clever and charming as the game presumes that it is. There are a lot of frustrating aspects about this that stop me from being able to give it a full, ringing endorsement. There are simply too many parts of the game where control is taken away from you and you simply have to sit there and listen to the narrator or, worse, watch BIG IMPACT FONT TEXT SLOWLY SCROLL ACROSS THE SCREEN BECAUSE IT IS SERIOUS AND INTIMIDATING OH BOY. That kind of stuff, in a time-loop game where you are repeating the same environments over and over again, feels extraordinarily confining and exhausting. The game even goes out of its way to make fun of how annoying the narrator is. Yeah! He is annoying! Well spotted, video game. There is an infinite stairwell. A stairwell that just keeps going forever. If you, like me, are curious and want to see every nook and cranny of this supposedly creative and zany world, you will probably also enter the stairwell and see how fair it goes. And then it never ends, and you are so deep in it that the only reasonable solution is to …

Better than The Stanley Parable. Short game but fun.

I loved playing this, I really like how similar it is to The Stanley Parable but it's own unique thing. Definitly need more games like this.
