About To the Moon
You're a memory archaeologist uncovering an elderly man's lifetime of choices as two doctors grant his dying wish to experience the moon landing in his mind. This narrative adventure masterpiece blends retro RPG visuals with adventure game storytelling, all tied together by a haunting original soundtrack that reveals why a simple dream meant everything.
Due to the severity of the operation, the new life becomes the last thing the patients remember before drawing their last breath. Thus, the operation is only done to people on their deathbeds, to fulfill what they wish they had done with their lives, but didn’t.
This particular story follows their attempt to fulfill the dream of an elderly man, Johnny. With each step back in time, a new fragment of Johnny's past is revealed. As the two doctors piece together the puzzled events that spanned a life time, they seek to find out just why the frail old man chose his dying wish to be what it is.
And Johnny's last wish is, of course... to go to the moon.

At first glance, the game has a strange simplicity. Two doctors use a memory altering machine to enter a dying man's mind to fulfill his request of visiting the moon. A request whose reason remains unknown to him. From the millions of possible requests he could have asked for, this is the one he chose. As you visit memories from different points in time, being lost, not understanding them and the only option you have is to keep going until you begin connecting the dots. Leaving you with an unexpected emotional realization once the bigger picture finally comes together. With little to no actual gameplay, this game is still one of my favorites. Perhaps it should be my favorite. There are some things in life we take for granted without knowing. Things that need to be appreciated. No matter how bad things get, there are always people worse off. At the time of writing this it's been about 7 months since I finished the game yet I felt like writing a review is needed as time passed. If this lands on anybody's screen, the game is worth it and a start to an amazing series.
I loved this so much. It's beautiful, poignant, and brutally real about asking the question - What matters more, where we end up or the connections we make along the way? It's an emotional adventure with a sweet and gentle playthrough style. I don't want to say too much because part of what made this game so wonderful was learning the little bits as you go. Caution to those recently out of a relationship. This game WILL make you tear up. Big props to those involved in it's creation. The score was delightful to the ear.
I am usually not into romantic stories but this one was good. the joke are fun and references of some popular games are in it.
It's a beautiful game, it's not so long but it has a very good story. Very emotional
Fantastic game. Can't say I was a huge fan of the gameplay elements, especially the puzzle mini-game throughout Act 1 when phasing back through the memories. But hats off to Kan Gao on the plot front. Masterful storytelling and pacing. The emotional punch that Act 3 delivers is second to no other game. And for that alone, this is well worth playing.
A cute story about a woman who marries a guy who like Animorphs and kills herself.
