Tomboys Need Love Too! is a compact adult visual novel that takes the familiar childhood-friends romance and builds its central conflict around the moment when friendship begins developing into something more complicated. Rather than constructing an enormous cast or an elaborate fictional world, it concentrates on a small group of characters and a straightforward romantic dilemma. Kai has known his next-door neighbor Chris since childhood and has become so comfortable with her tomboyish personality that he essentially considers her one of his male friends. When circumstances lead to Chris staying with him while her parents are away, Kai initially sees the arrangement as nothing unusual. Chris, however, recognizes an opportunity to make him reconsider the way he sees her. This setup gives the relationship a believable foundation because Kai and Chris already possess years of familiarity. Their chemistry does not need to be created from nothing, and much of the appeal comes from watching an established friendship cross boundaries that Kai previously considered fixed. This review contains minor spoilers. I think this is a good game that could've been a great game. I'd still recommend it but I beat it and got the best ending in 2 hours so if you're tight on money wait for a sale. This game could've been twice as long and I feel it would've filled out nicely. I think wondering which girl you should trust is a really fun angle and it could've been expanded on more. It's obvious who the game is about (read the title) but Sophie is an option and I think making you question Chris is good. Kai feels very much like a cookie-cutter romance anime protagonist; a dense, lazy guy with a heart of gold but I came around on him even if I wish he had a bit more spice. If I had any other critiques it's that the writing can feel very much like an anime romcom at times and I totally get someone being dense but Kai is being thrown 'hints' the size of Nebraska. A lobotomy patient could see how much Chris likes him. Wish there was more. Good game. Hell yeah, tomboys.

This was my second experience with Zetsubou game, though i had no idea at that time about fact like this. It’s a visual novel with very limited choice, mostly being very straightforward. There is unexpected turn though, including some nsfw, pretty much came out of nowhere cause nothing hinted at it. So plot is basically what it says in description - teen childhood friends to romance story in school setting. Anything besides that would spoil what happens in game, just know that mostly it’s just that not counting unexpected turn. Visually it is quite cute polished 2d art that is on edge of serious but still being cute, backgrounds though are nothing to write home about. Audio is there and as far as i recall does not conflict with gameplay, so it’s fine enough.
