"Too Shroom!" is a simple hybrid third person brawler and part ripoff of Vampire Survivors (copyright Poncle, 2023). You play a game of repetitive, one-dimensional combat against progressively harder waves of enemies. The story is about defending a peaceful land from a relentless invasion of shrooms. The gameplay is shallow, focusing on quickly acquiring and swapping upgrades, with no significant depth or variation. The game graphics look better than you might expect, but that's just because it looks like some or all of them are "borrowed" from asset stores or wherever. Gamers can tell... and it comes across as insincere. There's also the old adage that those who lack the budget and talent to make their own game assets usually lack the budget and talent to do the rest of the job of game development properly, too. The developer chose not to do the job of a real game developer and create meaningful bespoke levels, narrative based gameplay progression and so on. Instead, they decided that "Procgen IS content!" and lazily tried to use procgen algorithms to create infinite, samey, repetitive, soulless enemy waves, because that's a lot less work. As a result of this poor decisio…

Honestly, not the worst game ever. It's really grindy and hard to 100%, but it's free and the repetition is actually fun. The different characters don't really change much but I recommend the third guy due to his large amount of health. Over all, probably a 6/10. Not enough content, needs more.

Awesome game! Very fun! Quick and addictive gameplay. First off I would like to start out with my highest of praise for this game. I absolutely adore it, and find its gameplay to be super really fun and addictive, as well as engaging and thrilling. Quickly I find myself mobbed by a swarm of enemies and its so much fun keeping on my toes balancing between dodging and attacking as i rapidly defeat them in large amounts. This game from my perspective is the perfect potential, as I was playing I was so inspired at the concept and i had many ideas pop into my mind which i know would make it exponentially more fun. I will now describe them in hopes of inspiring developers. I find the power up upgrades to be creative, well thought out and meaningfully used in gameplay. It would be cool if in further versions there could be more mob types, perhaps animal mobs of different sizes and strengths that come out at certain higher waves. Implementing a sort of armor system would be really fun too, perhaps there can be certain mobs which can rarely spawn in with some armor pieces and once defeated these can be equipped on the player to add a health boost, movement boost, attack boost and …

I really haven't played this game for long and I may do an updated review later on but even with my short playtime I can tell that this game is just fun. You just play as a lil shroom guy. The combat is simple but pretty fun. I enjoy roguelike games and this is definitely a good one. If your looking for a free, silly lil roguelike then this is the game for you.
