About Train Simulator: Pacific Surfliner® LA - San Diego Route
Operate the iconic Pacific Surfliner along 128 miles of stunning California coastline from Los Angeles to San Diego, piloting authentic EMD F59PHI locomotives and Cab Cars through diverse terrain from urban sprawl to golden beaches. This route combines challenging mountainous sections, realistic push-pull passenger service operation, and atmospheric scenery with nine detailed scenarios plus Steam Workshop support for endless gameplay.
The 128 mile route between California’s two largest cities first saw Pacific Surfliner® services in 2000, and today carries more than 2.8 million passengers annually. Amtrak, Metrolink and Coaster services can be seen regularly on the route, which also hosts a varied mix of passenger and freight operations.
Starting out in downtown Los Angeles, Pacific Surfliner® services depart the art deco Union Station before heading into the city’s commercial district and extensive freight yards, heavy with intermodal traffic both day and night. After Fullerton (a well-known spot for railfans), the line passes the imposing Angel Stadium, home to Major League Baseball’s Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.
Many of the stations along the route are unique in style, including San Juan Capistrano, most notable for its central basilica forming part of the station building and level crossing that traverses the platform itself. Heading south, the route runs single track from San Clemente Pier, and at the same time hits the golden coast of California - the stunning beaches and spectacular sunsets are just a small part of the appeal of this beautiful route.
As the route heads inland at Sorrento Valley, trains climb the challenging Miramar Hill, famed for its long incline and a serious trial for even the most powerful of locomotives. At the peak of the hill, the track divides and passenger services begin their approach to California’s second largest city and Union Station, nestled between the city’s grand skyscrapers and the southern terminus of Pacific Surfliner® services.
Included with this route is the full Pacific Surfliner® consist, headed by the EMD F59PHI diesel locomotive in Amtrak livery. The F59PHI class was built between 1994 and 2001, and are a popular sight at the head of many US passenger trains. A driveable Cab Car also allows authentic operation of the Pacific Surfliner®, as the train runs as a push-pull service due to there being no turning facilities at either end of the route.
The interesting mix of lazy Southern California shore towns and oceanside single-track railroading, semi-mountainous regions and busy suburban junctions, spectacular scenery and atmospheric night lighting make the Pacific Surfliner® LA – San Diego route the perfect challenge for budding Train Engineers.
Note: Pacific Surfliner® LA - San Diego includes the Train Simulator core technology. To play Pacific Surfliner® LA - San Diego, launch Train Simulator 2014 from your Steam library after purchase. Great game. Can you update San Diego Route? Because in real life this route now has more stations. And can you add San Diego trolleys? The trolleys are Siemens u2, Siemens sd100, Siemens s700, and Siemens s70.1 found this helpful
I want my money back. I spent 20 dollars on a route that doesn't even load half the time, and crashes my game the other half of the time. I don't expect much from games and their DLC, the bare minimum is for them to work, yet this DLC somehow fails this simple, critical requirement! HOW?! I have a decent gaming laptop that can handle most performance-heavy games and their DLC, but how it can't handle a decade-old route right out of the box without any mods is beyond me.
This is one of the most underrated DLC for Train Simulator, the route has great variety with city-scapes, suburbs, countryside and beaches. The career mode is also really good with different weather and being set at different times of the day and they separate the full LA to San Diego trip in three parts. I strongly recommend this especially on a sale.
very good
Wait I got a question I bought the game and I did not get my scenerio please help me
Eh, a prime example of "meh." Around 60 percent of the time, the route works alright. The rest of the time.... you guessed it. The ever famous "Out of Memory" error that DTG refuses to do anything about. Surprise. If you can live with gambling whether the route will load every time, then it is an alright route. Nothing wildly spectacular: typical, relatively flat, quick-ish commuter route with some freight operations attached as kind of an afterthought. The included rolling stock is major "meh," F59 and matching surfliner cars that you probably already own in a different paint scheme. Credit where it is due, however. The route IS over a decade old, so a lot of what it has was pretty nice back then. Today, though, it's aged like sour milk. The rolling stock reused for every american commuter, and the assets that certainly show their age. Check it out on sale, as it ain't bad on sale.
