You can play solo or co-op up to 4 players and also compete with others on the game leaderboard.
Gameplay
The gameplay consists of placing and upgrading towers along a track in an attempt to stop as many enemies from reaching the end point and draining your lives. Here you have 2 modes; Standard – Normal mode, Hardcore – Same as normal, but you only have 1 life. For now, there are 4 maps, 2 which are just regular maps, and 2 where you can build on the map to make a “maze” to lead enemies through a certain path. Before starting a game you have 19 allies to pick from, each giving their own set of active and passive abilities. Trial Of Empires TD is a "free-to-play" tower defense game with infinite waves and cooperative play up to 4 players. The game offers 2 difficulty levels: Standard with 15 lives and Hardcore with 1 life. There are 4 different maps available, an online leaderboard, and achievements. Visually, the game looks below average, but that's just a matter of personal taste — some might find it mid/good. The game also includes 18 allies that provide different base stats, but each one costs 2 euros/dollars. You might be better off buying some decent tower defense games instead. Hello everyone, I can play with Steam deck without any problems. With the new update, both the resolution and button combinations are more compatible with steam deck. I was able to immediately assign camera movements and shortcuts to the buttons, making it much easier to control the camera with the joystick. For a game like Tower Defense, it's really nice that it offers comfortable handheld playability. Since I could choose allies, it was never boring to play again and again. I played short rounds of 20-30 minutes and it was nice to try the game with different spells and different allies. It's great to play indie games on Steam deck :)2 found this helpful
it seems like a fun game if other allies weren't stuck behind a paywall.
