My brutally honest review of Truck Driver: The American Dream. When I was offered a key for this game, I was genuinely excited to not only play it but also create content around it. Having spent many enjoyable hours with truck simulators such as Euro Truck Simulator 2, I expected this to be a game I could easily immerse myself in. Unfortunately, my experience was disappointing from the very beginning. The first issue I encountered was the audio. Upon launching the game, I was greeted by extremely loud menu music with no obvious option to lower the volume or disable it entirely. This immediately created a frustrating first impression. Once in-game, I found myself sitting in a dark cab with little to no guidance, while the music continued to dominate the audio experience. The controls also felt sluggish and unresponsive, particularly when using a controller, which made navigating menus and learning the controls unnecessarily difficult. It took me roughly fifteen minutes to lower the music volume and successfully start the truck. By that point, however, I was already struggling with the overall user experience. As someone who intended to record gameplay footage, the combination of …

I use keyboard and mouse for every driving game and this game is almost unplayable with it. There is no sensitivity to the keys for steering, it is either all or nothing and then you are swaying back and forth. The music can not be turned down on it's own so not great for streaming or recording, Then you turn down the audio so no music and you can't hear the voices talking, so not worth it for the story. I am going to watch the updates but as of right now, I would not recommend it.

First of all, I was pleasantly surprised that the Steam version is priced at 20 euro, while the console version costs 40. With the launch discount, I ended up paying just 15.99 euro. Secondly, as a fan of more arcade-oriented games, I really enjoyed the relaxing driving experience. The game is easy to pick up and doesn't demand too much from the player, which is a positive in my book (I used Xbox controller). The story works well enough, but unfortunately there are some important moments where the chosen voice actors simply fail to deliver the emotional impact the scenes are aiming for. Another downside is the traffic AI, which behaves oddly at times and accelerates extremely slowly at intersections and traffic lights. Visually, the game is decent. Unfortunately, it's one of those titles that looks quite impressive on Epic settings, but suffers a significant drop in overall visual quality when the settings are lowered even slightly. As a result, I often had to choose between targeting 30 FPS with the best visuals or accepting noticeably downgraded graphics in exchange for a higher frame rate. I haven't played the Freedom-to-Roam mode yet, and I noticed there's also a Christmas …

the current controls, and lack of the abiilty to remap make the game basically unplayable on steering wheels. Half of the controls are missing and there is no option to remap them. Such an unfortunate state for a great game to be in. ATM i will be putting in for a refund and going back to the Basic truck driver i have grown to love. This, is hot garbage.

I think this game would be fun if you could change the settings for a steering wheel! right now it is designed for kb&m which is weird for a driving game. Hopefully that will change soon!

Would love it much better if they add wheel sport such as Hori. This would make me play this a lot much more better to drive. If this doesn't get fixed for pc wheel support then the game is bad.
