Untold Memories: Potter's Field

Very decent story. Some pretty good jumpscares that made me hug my gengar plushie. It could've used a bit more though. Some of the sounds were a bit loud at times, especially the diary parts. The story was drawn out a bit when it came to the walking around "job" parts. But overall pretty solid game. Voice acting was pretty awesome, music and ambient sounds were good (When they weren't too loud), and the story was interesting and kept me in until the very end. I hope to see more stories from this studio! 8.5/10

The Good: The graphics are very impressive, the atmosphere and music are spot on. On sale it's less than $3. Oh, and I had no issues with optimization, perhaps that's been fixed? The Bad: Easily the worst part of this game are the mechanics....everything from opening a door, to picking up items is a chore due to a complete lack of a mid screen dot and the small window of detection when targeting an item. The game is also far too long, it needs to be at least 50% shorter. It unfortunately has an invisible stamina limit where you start having an asthma attack when you run for 30 secs. The inventory system is awkward and frustrating serving no real purpose. The Ugly: I, and many others, tried to warn the developers of the issues this game has after playing the demo, unfortunately our warnings went ignored. While the premise might be interesting, the game is missing in mechanics and depths. There are many opportunities to make the game slightly more interesting and they are squandered. Why not make the wolf attack more frequent, and let the player use the lantern as a deterrent? Why not have the fuses blow sometimes, forcing the player to cross the graveyard to fix it? Add maybe more pages to collect revealing piece by piece the story instead of just throwing it at the player at the very end. Sadly, I can not recommend the game. For it is unfinished, and is missing anything worthwhile.

I thought this was a banger. Kinda like Graveyard Shift but with a twist. The story is really good. 10/10

Not Recommended "Good atmosphere, but a total optimization nightmare." I really wanted to like Untold Memories: Potter's Field. The game has a spooky setting, and the story about Mark dealing with his past mistakes while working a creepy night shift at a cemetery is an interesting idea. Unfortunately, the game is so poorly optimized that it is almost impossible to enjoy. The Bad: Terrible Performance: Even on a good rig, this game struggles. I experienced constant stuttering and massive frame rate drops. A spooky forest isn't scary when it turns into a slideshow. Broken Cutscenes: Right from the start, the opening cinematic did not work properly. It is frustrating when a game breaks before you even get to play it. Frustrating Clunky Mechanics: The controls feel very clunky. Simple things like opening a door or picking up items are a chore because the game has a tiny window of detection for targeting objects. Annoying Stamina System: The game has an invisible stamina limit. Your character starts having an asthma attack and can barely move after running for just 30 seconds, which ruins the pacing.
