There is no fixed route — from the start, you are free to roam towns, caves, deserts, and forests. With a battle maiden bound by her mission to defeat the Demon King as your unwitting companion, how far you drag her down is entirely up to you — and that design forms the backbone of the experience. The standout feature is the sabotage-based combat. Lucida does the fighting; protagonist Batz uses interference skills from behind to control the outcome. Nearly every defeat outside of trial battles is tied to an H-event, meaning combat itself functions as a mechanism for unlocking content. The inverted concept of "deliberately making your own party's heroine lose" creates a distinctly unique play feel. Parameters shift based on your actions, branching into multiple endings. It is nice to have a Valkyrie as the female lead in one of these games for a change. Also interesting having the main character be a non-possessive irredeemable scumbag instead of the helpless cuck like in a lot of these games. Making it so you can't level up in battle but adding essentially non stop battles was certainly a choice. There really isn't any incentive not to just run away from everything but bosses. Also all the h scenes are distractingly quiet if that makes any sense. I enjoyed it overall though but I feel like it is a game you will feel better about if you get it on a sale.
