I have never have so little idea wtf was happening in a game. This is theoretically a bullet heaven. You open the game and there’s no intro, no explanations, nothing, you’re just catapulted into this series of menus with increasingly elaborate skilltrees some of which already have points applied and no explanation for anything. There’s not even normal stats, there’s Faith, Occult, and something else I don’t remember, and those cover random arrays of normal stats, like 6 each. All the skill trees and menus require different currency to interact with — there’s at least 4 difference currencies — and no tooltips, quest list, or tutorial. I don't think I've ever played a more frustrating Survivors-like. The aesthetics are great with the pixel sprites looking clean, the music is energetic and high effort, and a lot of the upgrades turn characters from one off-runs into your own personal character as you upgrade their stats, gear, and abilities. However, that's where the problems start. First off, this game tells you nothing, no tutorials, no guides. If you hate when a game wastes your time because of a mechanic or a specific UI choice that wasn't explained, then this isn't the game for you. A more patient person might like experimenting and discovery, but I personally hate that, especially for core mechanics. Next, while upgrading your character is a long term thing and makes them feel more personalized, that's another problem. You'll never switch off the first two characters. You start with Vylat and Ninn and, because of the time and resource investment, you'll never play anyone else. Weird aside, does this team not like women? You get one female character and she's an elf, then you unlock the next female character WAY later and she's a different flavor of elf. Meanwhile, you unlock a ton of male characters wi…

Entertaining game in the model of Vampire Survivors. The similarities are plain to see but the gameplay provides enough differences to merit a look.

Just a little over an hour into this game and love it! If you're a fan of Vampire Survivors you'll feel right at home with this. Plays the same with a better build systems and an "ultimate" that charges up over time giving you a screen clear. Its a nice change of scenery compared to Vampire Survivors and plays amazingly well on low end pc systems. The music is more of a CD quality which can take away from the retro vibe like V.S. but is still welcome. Purchased this game when it was $7 and worth every penny. $5 would be a steal but over $10 I would wait as this could easily be ported to mobile.

Once I found that the stats were not just a display and they could be upgraded, then everything else fell into place and progression made sense. After that the game was pretty great!
