VGA Planets Nu

This is the same game by Tim Wisseman from the 80's. It has been updated, but you can still play the classic version. There are lots of opponents. However, my schedule doesn't permit me to play a long game as I am out of reach of reliable internet 6 months of the year on average. A game can take 6-18 months. However, the current version has great solitaire play. My days of playing multiplayer games that last for months is over. Now, I just play quick games like Risk. However, I really enjoy this game, So I can develop my Home Sector (solitaire) on my schedule. When I come back 6 months later, it is waiting for me just how I left it. This is a thinking man's game, sort of like chess. It can be very intricate. In order of importance are, Diplomacy, Economy, and Combat. Another advantage of solitaire play is that it gets rid of Diplomacy, which I hate. The computer opponents are very good, but there is no negotiating with them. Play time not 2 hours, more like 4000 hours. "If you are new to this game you need to slow down before you even try to play this. This is a world famous game crated by "Tim" in the 1990s. Every kid in university would play it. We would get a file via emial or BBS and run it with the game creating another file that we would upload ot a host. The host would then process a turn and it would continue this way and the game would progress. Now days it is automated but it is the same game. This is a PC Desktop game. Try to use your phone if you like, but imo dont even try. This game is akin to playing 20 games of chess at once. The original rule book was a 3 inch print out and now there are more rules. The races were at one time all from Star Wars or Star Trek but they have been disguised recently to not infring on copy rights. There are many races, furries with their "not klingon" beam weapons, the Evil Empire with their "not a death star" giant moon sized ship. Hard to believe I've already spent 150ish hours on this. It's an old but refined program, and can be played out of a web browser if you need it to.

Great game, can be easy on newbies with the right settings, or super complicated and customised if yer a pro.

A blast from the past for sure! If you like games that put an emphasis on logistics then you will like this game.
